You are in a good place. Don't over think the amp/preamp thing. You have an amp you love in the MC-275, but the weak point is the preamp. Find a great preamp whether it is Allnic or something else and be happy. Tube preamps are fussy and can get expensive with tube swapping. With the Mac's you might want to find a top shelf SS one like the PASS's or a good passive with a buffer. Watching your journey has been an adventure for sure and I am glad that it was you and not me.

Jack....Thank you . After the my speakers is settled. it's actually fun to try out all these wonderful amps in my home.

I really like the Allnic pre amp but just want to try the shindo before I making my final decision. :)
 
Mike I took your advice and put all three room renses against wall and sounds got better. ( Not a huge difference but its more focused )

I was just following the manual never thought about put them against the wall. Good call !

Paul, are your liking the Allnic pre or will you be going in a different direction? I know you're waiting for some Shindo gear to arrive before you make your final choice but curious minds want to know. What are the sound differences between the Allnic monos and the MC275? I think I remember you saying you'd enjoyed the Allnic pre better than the C2300.
 
Doug, the Allnic house sounds are much neutral than McIntosh. The McIntosh is really dark and warmer than Allnic but less detail and depth in comparison. However with Mike's recommendation I purchased the whole NOS tubes from Tube Maze and these made quiet different sounds on my MC275 now bass is tighter and I hear more detail over GL tubes I have. I'm still thinking about the Tenor 175s as well which was super amp for in-terms of punchy bass and makes bigger stage. If I decide to go with the Tenor I'm not going to change my pre for a while due to $$$$. Can't wait to hear the Shindo grrr !
