There is always lots of Bose Bashing all over the place but I found an instance where there was a positive outcome.

I have some friends who like to listen to music but have no interest in quality gear. Almost every house they have, they would install cheap in-ceiling speakers and use mass market gear.

They could never understand my obsession with gear or my home setup and would always say they can't really tell the difference.

Just recently, they purchased a new Audi. My friend started to tell me that since he got his new car, when he listens to music he can actually tell what the words to the songs are and that he could never really make it all out in the past.

I peeked in the car and at the speakers to find it was an all Bose setup.

So for all those that are not pro Bose, there is actually a place for them to convert those from No Good Sound to Pretty Good Sound.

Now he says he understands my obsession and looks forward to hearing my setup again so he can take notice to things he thought did not matter in the past.

So I fat fingered the Title of this thread and it should say A Good Bose Story. I cannot edit the title or delete the post to fix it.

Must be a pretty fat finger to extend across 8 or 9 keys from "A" to "O" ! :shocking: :shocking: :shocking:

I have two cars with Bose stereos, and while they aren't super systems, they are fine for buzzing down the road.

If you are going down the highway, you have to play the music at 90 dB to be only 20 dB above the 70 dB noise floor, so highest fidelity isn't exactly possible with ANY system. Since I don't listen to music in the car unless I'm actually driving, a concert hall quality isn't necessary.

I think almost everyone has issue typing the word Bose

Brian, I've had multiple cars and SUV's with Bose systems inside. And you know what, they sound pretty damn good, I think that Bose always gets a bad rap, some of their product sound good.
When we go to our timeshare in Maui, our condo has a Wave system, and we're glad its there.

Sure, I wouldn't personally be happy with Bose in my home (I've demoed 3 different sets of their speakers and the wave radio). However, I see the car thing totally working, no problem with car audio being what it is. I've always believed that your car's audio should not sound better than your home audio, if it does, something is wrong. I say that kind of tongue in cheek as I know some folks are really into car audio so bully for them.
The reality for me though is too much noise. I just want car audio for going down the road so I don't have to listen to pure road noise. It's just background for me.

I have heard a few Waves and was quite surprised. I am not a Bose Hater or Basher. I just don't see myself buying any of it unless it comes with a vehicle. The Audi system did sound rather good.

Me either. I have the Bose something or another for my computer (two mini speakers and a little sub) and the noise canceling headphones (which work nicely for long flights).

I mostly use my car systems to convince me that my home system still sounds good whenever I get the fever. Just take the crapiest tape or disc for a ride and when I get home the fever has resided.

I've had Bose sound systems in 3 different vehicles. In my Corvette it didn't really sound that good. It seems a little better in my Porsche. The best sounding of the the 3 systems was in my ML 320, it just plain sounded better than the other two. My son-in-law has a Bose system in his Nissan SUV and it sounds really poor. So, one in four was good. I have a JBL system in my Tundra and it sounds ok, but the car stereo champ for me is in my wife's Volvo XC70. It is a standard Volvo radio, but sounds so much better than any of these other "upgraded" systems!

I never had a 'Base' sound system ;); or at home or in my car/truck.

I had Pioneer, Panasonic decks (CD, AM/FM), and other brands (amplifiers, subs, equalizers, interconnects, Boston speakers, etc.) in my cars and trucks, but no Bose system.

I know some who have a Bose radio/CD player @ home, and I'm surprised at the sound quality and ease of use. ...No wires, no complications. everything inside one box unit, and small enough to put anywhere. ...And the build quality inspires confidence.

* Someone should correct the small typo in the thread's title; Bose instead of Base? :)

LOL! That's funny. What's funnier is the fact that I've actually done this several times!!!!
(Doesn't even have to be the crappiest CD, any CD will do, at least in my car.
