I read this, and when I checked my email there it was. :)

“Auto insurance companies return $800 million in premiums because no one is driving”

Email

“As we all work together to slow the spread of COVID-19, more of us are at home and driving less, which means having fewer accidents. That's why we are announcing a Shelter-in-Place Payback for our auto customers. And, since our lives have become more digital, we are providing free identity protection for the rest of the year.

Most auto customers will get an average payback of about 15% based on their monthly insurance costs during April and May. You can get your payback faster through the Allstate® mobile app.”

My insurance went through the roof when my son obtained his license - we bought him a Volkswagen GTI and the reason was the “if” factor that he could use our cars and cause an accident. Our home went up as well.

My agent said the were paying north of every dollar received in the auto segment, I forget the exact percentage but think it was around 15-20%

I just applied following the OP post, and they are instantly returning something.

Waiting on the cable companies to follow the Power Companies led and lower rates during this time. Fla Power is cutting their rates by a lot.

You got to be joking right? Power companies would be jacking up the price (if they could) due to your higher demand!

I just called State Farm. They just decided last Friday that for the period from March 20 to April 31 they are refunding 25% of the cost for those weeks. Some are doing 15% while some smaller companies are doing nothing.

With so many low income people suddenly without income, we beginning to experience signs of social unrest and vandalism. There is even talk of scrapping the 2020 academic year.

Economically we are deep trouble - so no real benefits on our side.

on avg, what, 30 bucks back ?

How about a positive? The air has cleaned up dramatically in many "smoggy" U.S. cities

All over the world actually. Lots of wildlife out and about with few people out and about. Earth is getting a couple-month-long or better break.

It would be nice if when over, people will have learned to slow down a little. I have seen more fathers with their children than in 30 years. I see families all together which never seems to be the norm. But my gut tells me that as soon as things open up, many people are just going to stampede everything like it's Black Friday every day.

Rarely do people change.

Depends on how long they suffer ...........

I don't think there's anyone on this forum old enough(generationally speaking) to know what suffering is, myself included.

You are right, and what is happening now is nothing really. How hard is it to stay at home and listen to music, watch movies, get projects done that there is never time for. People are acting like it's the end of the world if they have to do this for a few months out of a lifetime....get a grip :)

It all depends on what you mean about suffering, current day and time and or past history.

as I said Chris, generationally speaking. No argument there are plenty struggling right now but for the vast majority of us this is an inconvenience. Time will tell if this generation has the go-nads of the 'greatest generation' ............

Missing your Senior Trip is an inconvenience. Fifty years ago many had the opportunity to spend an entire year in the jungles of SE Asia,

Well just wondering but since you clarified " generationally speaking " all cool. But some of us on here are having a rather hard time ( medically) at the moment, not Covid related but its a struggle. But having Covid on the for-front just makes things so difficult to accomplish.

Chris, I understand and for you all those out there with various compromising conditions I wish the best !
