Way too many songs to create a " best of " list in my opinion, here are a few of my favorites.

The Church.......Under the Milky Way

Flock of Seagulls....Space age love song

The Cure..........Close to me

Modern English........I melt with you

New Order............Entire Substance LP

What are 5 of your favs?

Nice selection, John! Like you said, too many great songs to pic just 5. But here are some that I like as I skim my iTunes collection:

- Queen & David Bowie: Under Pressure
- U2: With or Without You
- The Fixx: One Thing Leads To Another
- Heart: Nothin' At All
- Madonna! :)

I really like I Melt With You as well. I remember back then it was a difficult CD to find at the time. Kept on searching for it until I found it used sometime in 2000...

All the songs on AC/DC Back in Black.
Dire Straits - Money for Nothing
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
Billy Joel - Its Still Rock & Roll to Me
Huey Lewis & The News - The Power Of Love

Otherwise, I try hard to forget all the "bad 80's music". Talk about an era of one hit wonders. Would be fun to do a "where are they now?" on all these 80's one hit wonders.

Nice picks, Mike.:audiophile: I was going to say AC/DC Dirty Deeds Done Dirt cheap but looks like it was a '70s song.

How about this golden oldie:

I remember years after the 80's were done and gone how glad I was that it was over. Now when I reflect on that period in time I see it as a time of musical exploration. The punk movement allowed new bands to do anything they wanted and with this new found freedom a whole new world of music was opened up. Just think of how many bands started during the 80's with so many different types of music and sounds. Punk, Hardcore, Ska, New Wave, Metal (gotta' love that 80's hair metal. LOL!) etc... I really can't think of another time in history that has so much going on in terms of music diversity. It's funny that now I wish there could be as much great new music these days as there was back then.

Echo and the Bunnymen - Lips Like Sugar

The Clash - Rock the Casbah

The Replacements - I Will Dare

The Police - Roxanne (Yeah, I know this was put out in the late 70's...)

Billy Idol - White Wedding

The Smiths - How Soon Is Now?

Sorry I have to add just one more...

Husker Du - Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely

Dang it, one more!!!

Talking Heads - Psycho Killer (another late 70's tune...)

My favorite hairband top 5

Ratt.......Round and round

Guns n' roses.........Sweet child o mine

Def Leppard........Women

The Cult......Fire Woman

Scorpions.......Still loving you

The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
The Call - The Walls Came Down
REM - Radio Free Europe
Aztec Camera - All I Need Is Everything
The Cure - In Between Days

Depeche Mode- Violator
REM- Green
GnR- Appetite for Destruction
Talking Heads- Speaking in Tongues
Def Leppard- Pyromania

off the top of my head...
