"Sunday's Bruno Mars-loving Grammy Awards took a steep ratings spill by the first-available metrics.
The show, which ran a bloated three-and-a-half hours, was off an unfortunate 21 percent from 2017 in early numbers. Overnight returns from Nielsen Media give it a 12.7 rating among households — marking its biggest drop since the 2013, the year after the show swelled following the death of Whitney Houston. Such a steep drop, however, could very well mean an all-time low for the calendar's biggest music awards show once updated numbers arrive."

BTW, what did this have to do with the Grammy Awards:

I did not watch the show but based upon the pre-show advertising and reporting of results I found nothing compelling me to watch even though I would love some new music. As a child of the 60's I can't wrap my head around rap or songs that...... Oh heck, I don't know how to describe what is popular now.

Only one word comes to mind cacophony.

Didn't help that it was in January this year and nobody knew about it. (bc of the Olympics)

Dizzie, rap isn't the only thing shown at the Grammy's. I would encourage you to look at the award winners and do some digging - the National, Jason Isbell, Alabama Shakes, etc. are folks you would probably enjoy. They only show like 6 awards on TV and its really just a duet show. Chris Stapleton was excellent - and very old school.

BTW, Tidal owner, Jay-Z went into the 60th annual Grammy Awards with a field-leading eight nominations and came away with precisely zero golden gramophones.

Truer words never spoken.

I agree!

I stopped watching Award Shows long ago. I don't get off on people patting themselves on the back. I also don't like the music or performers they feature most of the time. (Lincoln Center Awards I do watch sometimes)

As per the Politics, it has just plain gotten out of hand over the last 2 years and has no place on a Music Award Show.

+1

One of the weakest Grammys in a long time.
It boggles the mind when clowns like Jay Z are even up for consideration.

No reason to watch any of these ridiculous award shows. Ego maniacs in love with themselves hold no interest for me.

If you want to know how to solve any problem in the world, talk to either a musician or an actor. They have all of the answers.

I like musicians and actors. They're creative people. Lots of anger here. I can think of other reasons to be angry.

Who would you prefer to win a Grammy - please enlighten us.

Let's start with "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee

Some excerpts from the article ...

It spent a record-breaking 16 weeks at number one on the Billboard charts and is the most-streamed single of all time.

... just comparing the charts, the Motown-influenced "24K Magic" spent 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and only ever peaked at number two, versus 43 weeks for "Despacito," many of which were at the top spot.
