30.2s?

Now that would be interesting.

I didn't mean to infer that, I am curious as to what changes they'd make. I enjoyed the 30.1 when I had them.

Well...what did they do; 40.1 to 40.2?

As far as I know, just crossover changes. Drivers are the same. Just like anything else, you have members here who sought out the 40.1's after hearing the 40.2's. Some are totally not digging the 40.2. I have not heard them so I can not comment.

I have heard the Super HL5+ many times and love them. I think a similar transformation has occurred in that upgrade. So based on that alone, I feel confident in saying that I'd like the 40.2 over the 40.1. Some say the 40.2 lost a little soul. I don't know but the Super HL5+ are wonderful to me with the right amp.

I was fortunate to have the 40.1 and my Strads side by side. As much as I loved the 40.1, and I did, my Strads are better to my ear. That is not a normal comparison for someone to make but I struggled with keeping the 40.1 and once I looked at it more objectively, the Strads won. I did sell the 40.1 with the intention of getting the 40.2 realizing that there was no upgrade path to the 40.2. I have a sneaky suspicion that if it were not for the controls and Harbeth mfg process that swapping crossovers could have been enough to make 40.1's into 40.2's. That is entirely my own opinion.

I look forward to hearing the 40.2 and eventual 30.2 someday. I may come back to the fold.

The reason they did the 40.2 was because the original .1 was designed for studio use where lower frequencies are often more challenging, and so the bottom end was augmented. This made for a well balanced sound in the studio, but a bass-heavy sound in many homes. The .2 iteration addressed this, creating for the first time a domestic implementation of this particular model.

The 30 series is certainly not suffering a similar trait, and hence I can't see any immediate need for a revamp.

I agree with Art, would love to see the C7 addressed in the top end (a little recessed for my liking).
