Was I hallucinating or did I see a VPI tube amp??

Some more pics.

The M&A Recording room. Fantastic music, got to meet the owner. Quirky guy, but really has a passion for this stuff.

One of two VPI rooms. I liked this one the most. All new to me gear: Tannoys, VPI amp, Merrill Audio Jens phonostage, all making wonderful music. What Tannoy speaker is this?

Volti room. Never appreciated horn speakers until I heard this room:

I thought VPI were in bed with Dynavector, That looks like an Ortofon Cadenza, maybe a Bronze.

Not in a long time. They have also done work with Peter Ledermann of Soundsmith too. Harry and Mat like the new Ortofons and from what I've heard, they're a darned good value.

Some other audio news being reported.....

is sorry to hear of the closing of Hornslet, the Danish furniture company which has made speaker cabinets for the A-Z of the audio world. If I recall correctly, Hornslet has made cabinets for Aerial Acoustics, Audio Physic, B&W, Dynaudio, GamuT, JBL, Kudos, Linn, MBL, Naim, ProAc, PMC, Raidho, and many others, at one time or another.

I can't find confirmation of this online in English, but Scandinavian manufacturers have confirmed this. This has got to disrupt things a bit. Also according to this person, B&O has moved their manufacturing facilities to Eastern Europe.

Hopefully not too far East.

Scott 299 integrated amplifier.

the cynic in me says why not just buy a real Scott 299, a fully restored 299d is about a fifth the cost and a cool looking vintage time capsule and display piece.

that aside, me thinks supporting older products would be a priority (Hw19 and tnt owners have been left high and dry) over something that's not their core business.

A "real" Scott 299 would most probably need to be entirely rebuilt to bring it back up to spec and who the hell makes really good 7591 tubes now? NOS 7591 tubes are less common than Elvis sightings.

I had heard that one of the MBL speakers blew, hence the black and white speakers at the show...
