ModWright Oppo BDP-105

If you take the cover off you can see both the Bybee Rail and the Audio Magic Pulse Gen ZX (they have little manufacturer's badges on them); of course that doesn't tell you anything about their contribution to the sound, if any.

So if you're interested you have lots of possible tube upgrades/improvements; while the Sophia/Philips combination is likely the best of tubes in current production (I have both although they are back in their boxes at this time), there is a world of NOS tubes that significantly outshine these, though at a price.

Has anyone compared the Modwright mod of the Oppo with John Tucker's mod? I heard John's mod at Winston Ma's place and it sounded great to me. I have friends who are very positive about both of their mods, but I would have to choose one or the other.

Thanks, Larry

Thank you for telling where to find these mods.

I Would like to now your experience with the NOS tubes. I would love to try them too. That is the only way to have a comparison and know what's the best tubes combo for my system. I know the Sophia and Phillips combo is a big improvement over to the stock tubes.

You can PM me.
