I looked into buying their remaster of Dan Folgleberg's debut album but the reviews are mixed with some saying it is spectacular a mn d others saying it sound flat and dull compared to the original. That is enough to discourage me from buying it on vinyl.
I was talking about power supplies, capacitors, input and output stages. These all affect sound. I have built a few pieces of gear and made them so we could swap caps and resistors and they very much can affect the sound. You can easily tune the sound of electronic gear with resistors and...
Personally. I do not care if someone does not believe but when someone is asking on a forum for advice on cables and you post and then get attacked with condescending remarks like did you take your psych meds and other belittling remarks that is not OK. A large forum like the SHF, there can...
I heard the BSN 2 years ago when I went with my friend who was looking to get back into audio ( he had Krell gear for years) and he bought the Lumin D3 and the Rogue Cronus. We compared the BSN to the Lumin D3 at 2 different stores with different speakers and we both though it was awful using...
I haven't found the Lumin D3 to sound better than the WiiM ultra. It should. The Wiim mini is not anything like the Ultra. Even the wiiM pro plus is not as good as the WiiM Ultra. I am not saying the Ultra is the be all and end all of streamers but it is very good and the UI is fabulous. I...
This happens a lot on the SHF's and the deniers get down right nasty and belittling. There is a guy there that I will name because he is a condescending A$$, called Rotel Fan. He owns Mac gear but he does not believe cables, dacs, power supplies and music players sound different. I told the...
On another forum there are so many cable and dac deniers. I usually look up their gear and it is all budget gear. You need resolving gear to hear many of the changes that cables can bring and dacs for that matter. And, depending upon the cables, you may not hear a difference.

I just bought a WiiM ultra streamer for my daughter and it works great and has good sound quality. It gets even better if your run it into your main dac. The UI is fabulous as is the phono amp. The built in equalizer in the phono app works great. We tried it in my sons system before I mailed...
Our genes affect everything.
That is the way of the world.
I am a super taster and I am very sensitive to anything bitter or labeled zesty. Same for sweetness.
Frank Van Altsine and AVAHiFi were fabulous to deal with. It did not matter if you bought gear new or used. He would repair it for you and he would sell your old AVA gear. He for the most part was really nice to customers until his last year. I heard he could be a little cranky.
Too bad if that is true. I was looking forward to visiting Seattle and seeing and listening to some great gear. I might have to go to the SWAF in freaking July. I am starting to sweat already, lol. Or maybe the Capital Audiofest.
I just checked and it is still on for Sept 11-13th, 2026. I am going with my son and a good friend who is like a brother to me. I may meet a guy or 2 from the SH Forum as well. I can't find anything anywhere where it says it was pushed back. The California show has been cancelled, maybe...
He is going to be at Axpona this spring. I am going to the show in Seattle in September, I hope he will be there. If they are reasonably priced and sound great, I may sell my Arendal speakers and give those a go.
