    Cheap desktop amp

    not sure how cheap is "cheap" but for around a C note or a bit under a person can buy one of the little parasound Zamps. The older models need a recap now, but once done they are very robust. I have several that have been on 24/7 for almost 10 years now.

    Very cool. I have not heard the Linlai KT88s but not surprised you found them quite good. Linlai was founded by a bunch of folks that left PSVANE.

    TiGLON cables

    I used to be one of the "AC cables don't matter types". But now have fell off the deep end in AC cables. They are more about filtering high frequency noise than about current delivery. Have not tried the Tiglon cables so can't offer any views. Have tried quite a few other power cables though...

As for noise, was referring to the high freq AC noise riding in on the AC mains and the high freq. switching noise generated by the rectifiers during the AC to DC conversion. The main filter caps will not remove all of this. Usually extra small...

    Have tried a few class D. They were ok but not as great sonically as high powered tube amps.

    thanks. Have quite a few tube amps from McIntosh MC275, MC60s to VTL MB-185s, VTL MB-125,VAC Phi 300 and quite a few others. Sources are either vinyl or high speed tape.

    Yes, have tried to return to SS a few times with the goal of ease of use but failed each time and returned to valves.
