Switched to Class D or get left behind?

That's the key - to have someone lead you. The first time I sat with Bernie Grundman mastering an album, he poked buttons and pushed sliders and things got better and better. I had thought that I was a good listener, having horned my craft over hundreds and thousands of hours designing...

Switched to Class D or get left behind?

That's because to some designers, the measurements matter more than the experience. The latest Class D modules all have more and more feedback to measure better and better at the detriment of music. Then the measurement folks gaslight the listening folks and say that what we hear is not measurable.

Switched to Class D or get left behind?

If you have to tell people how honest you are, you are actually dishonest and covering it up.

Switched to Class D or get left behind?

They are all too young to remember (or may be audiophiles in the USA skipped?) the Japanese THD wars. When I graduated, I went home with my "dorm room system". Mission 70 loudspeakers, Creek 4040 integrated amp and Rega Planar 2 turntable. It was the budget system at the time. By the time I...

Switched to Class D or get left behind?

Telling someone that their perception of what they feel and hear is wrong is basically gaslighting. It is psychological abuse to tell me that what I feel I hear is invalid because "the numbers say so". Unfortunately, there is a lot of this emotional abuse going on in the audiophile online network.

Genesis Maestro - an oldie but goodie

Come rediscover the Genesis Maestro at Hifi Sound with me next week. I will be there to share music and talk design. May 29-30, 2026 Hifi Sound 825 Glenwood Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55405 (612) 339-6351 I first launched the Genesis Maestros at the 2017 CES. At that time, it was my most ambitious...

Switched to Class D or get left behind?

In the early 1980's just when I was starting out, I bought into the hype of ultra-low distortion and traded in my Creek 4040 (which I had bought when I was a student in London) for a 0.0001% THD Japanese integrated amp. Regretted that for the next 3 years before I could afford to buy something...

    Do EV chargers introduce noise?

I do own an electric car, and when I am charging, the soundstage is not as expansive. However, it's much the same when my wife turns on the oven. I find the same in the office - when the electric forklift is charging, the soundstage totally collapses. Since I run Puritan Audio power conditioners...

Are audiophile re-issues a scam? (Clickbait title)

The lady (and many men) behind Impex Records talks about what it takes. This video tells you how much actually work goes into making an audiophile album. I've been there and worked with many of the same guys that Abey Fonn works with - mainly because Abey guided me as I embarked on producing...
