My new Kronos Pro

Beautiful Mike , Congratulations to 076 from 083!!

A great table for sure , I'm running it through its paces to get a sense of its attributes, it certainly shares many characteristics of outstanding suspended tables but as for how it fares vs. a TW Acustic Black Knight or a Kuzma XL4 .....stay tuned. The choice of arm may be the clincher in that little contest.

Enjoy !!

Are you doing a shootout at your place, Shodhan? If so, look forward to impressions! TW and Kuzma were the two other brands I was serious about before buying the Kronos.

I knew I should kept my big mouth shut Allen :D

An outright shootout would take relocating the Kronos downstairs in the main system and I am somewhat reluctant given the size, weight & complexity of this beast . For now, I'm letting it settle in before I swap out the Kleos for an XV1t . I'll post impressions as soon as that is done. Undeniably a great table but very much Flavour of the Month right now in fickle analog circles . I'll just say that after many years of owning their tables, I remain in awe of the engineering and sonic credentials of Franc Kuzma and Thomas Wosnick....

I agree with you about the TW tables Shodhan. I've never owned one but have been tempted. Jeff Catalano's rooms at shows always sound fantastic and he typically has a TW running.
BTW, congrats on the Kronos. Only now realizing that you've got yourself one!

Can the Kronos go with arms like Kuzma 4 point with a Koetsu?

I heard the Pro yesterday with a Graham Phantom Supreme and Audionote IO Gold. Extremely impressed. Not an analog guy (yet), but have been demoing stuff.

I have an interest in the Kronos + 4point combination, and I'll eventually get that pairing going, as the 4point is a personal favourite. I've talked briefly with Louis about this, and he said that it should be OK.

Yes, absolutely.

Bonzo

This question came up today with my Kronos dealer who was visiting . I have two 4Points on other tables. The issue is that tHe Kronos is a suspended table and there is some question as to whether the suspension could, (without modification), accept an arm assembly that heavy. I suggest the question be directed to Louis.

Not so sure about that Mike, the 4Point weighs between 3 & 4 lbs . At the very least it might create a lopsided weight distribution to the far right corner

And I asked Louis tonight and he said "sure, no problem."

The designer of the table recommends the black beauty. I love it.

That IS good news Mike, thanks. I think a number of arms could be serious contenders , the Black Beauty is not without its own issues though cosmetically, I can see people making that choice. The 4Point, Phantom, Vertere , Triplanar and in particular, Helius arms are all serious contenders

BTW, looking at that 4Point installation using an awkward Heath Robinson baseplate, the only word that comes to mind is "improvised"......

What is the exposed Pancake Air Cylinder looking thingy for?

As a Toolmaker, I really enjoy looking at all the top class work to build this table. Congrats!

I ran into Louis at Munich 2019 and he gave me a new “cup” for the black beauty arm. He has another he wants me to try as well that I should be receiving in a couple of weeks. He’s experimenting with different materials in the cup section which the ball from the unipivot arm sits in.

He also gave me a new record clamp to try. This one is made from a combination of walnut and maple as opposed to the standard metal one.

The record clamp was immediately noticeable.
