Clarisys Audio

Wow Mike ..!

Florian's execution and effort on these new models is fantastic, cant imagine the tooling effort necessary to do it all and with Neo’s...!

Regards

I heard the Minuets at Mike's last weekend and was very impressed. They were paired with the HiFi Rose streamer (I believe the RS150) and a Pass Int-250. It's that Quad magic on steroids. Much fuller and smoother than I was expecting. Fit and finish are great also. I'd love to hear a pair of the larger ones some time.

Agree Rance. I listened earlier this week and came away with the same impressions.

PS - Sorry I missed you this past weekend!

Tweeters outside no toe in is whats different Mike, i use to run mine with some toe in and preferred Tweeters outside , but its all about room placement , size and reflections really , some rooms will not allow tweeters outside for best sound, arrival time vs seating distance from tweeters ..

How far off the front wall currently Mike ..?

Regards

Agreed. With less “stuff” and no absorption on side walls, tweeters inside could be the best. Regardless, there is flexibility for placement and no right or wrong. We have them 3 feet from side wall and 6 feet from back wall (after taking this video). We tried them 3 feet from back wall with still great results.

When we expand the store, one of the new rooms will be for Omni’s, Dipoles and horns. Treatment will be light diffusion and no absorption.

This is the ribbon tweeter/midrange from the Clarisys Audio Studio Plus Neo. Note the 6 traces. The Minuet has 5 traces, the Studio Plus has 6 traces and the Auditorium has 7 traces.

The more traces, the wider the ribbons. Conversely, the more power and low frequency it can handle.

Neo Vs Ferrite:

The stronger magnetic field of the Neo allows it to bridge a wider gap between the magnetic poles, thats why neo versions have wider ribbons over the ferrite version.

Another reason why we are only importing the Neo version. It’s sonically far superior.

Mike i see where you said that its mid/twt ,or is this midrange only as its pretty wide ..?

Regards

Tweeter and midrange. In the Auditorium, it has a separate tweeter ribbon, a separate midrange ribbon and a separate bass ribbon. All models above the Minuet have external crossovers.

Mike,

What is the rat's nest at the bottom? Is that extra to connect to the rest of the speaker?

Yes. It’s just a sample to show. These are the copper returns. The ribbons are segmented into traces and the signal has to come down again. It’s copper foil in lieu of cheap copper cables.

I would love to hear them. I used to have Apogee Stages and Mini Grands. A friend had Grands and another friend had Divas. I wish Apogee had survived to evolve with new technology and materials.

That’s why we have Clarisys. Florian worked on Apogees for decades.

The name Florian sounds familiar. I think we both used to be members of some Apogee users' group.
