Hi Guys,

Thought I'd post a few pictures of the room I spend a lot of my time in while spinning records or watching TV. This is a room my wife and I built out ourselves. It started off as a 20' x 20' storage room below our garage with three of the four walls just bare concrete. The listening space is about 19' wide and 14' deep. Behind the wall the TV is hanging on is a hallway lined with shelving for misc storage and a small wine cellar at the end.

The items that have seen rotation in and out of this audio system lately are the wall treatments/placement (looking at covering those ugly beige panels with something more attractive) and power amplifiers. The first picture shows the CJ MV-55 and the others my Proceed HPA-2.

I really love how the Proceed power amp enforces a vice like grip on the 4 ohm Canton Ergo Passiv loudspeakers' dual 10" woofers at all volumes. The CJ MV-55 has such a beautiful mid range quality but does seem to lack the authority that the Proceed brings to the table.

Mike...that is a very inviting and warm room to kick back and relax in. Congrats and thx for sharing!

Mike,
Change those old ARC handles to
the new one and maybe silver
Could be a nice upgrade to the look

:)

Thanks for the nice words guys. Adding a few pictures of the rest of the room (side and rear) to show the wood work built-ins (for magazines/books, CD's, movies and LP's) we built into the space during the remodel.

Nelson, thanks for that tip, I didn't know ARC would have silver handles for this old beast? I will have to call them to inquire.

Mike

The "artwork" is my attempt at a non-scientific (non QRD) diffuser solution to break up the plain wall space. In the next few days (once the snow melts a little around here to free up my deck for a work surface) I want to build another pair of the "diffusers" to replace the sound absorption panels as an experiment.

I originally had the single pair of diffusers placed behind the speakers (see first pic in the OP) but since purchasing the soft panels a few months back, I wanted to see what they brought to the experience. Though I believe they help focus the sound stage, both my wife and I don't like the way the soft panels look.

I may end up with a stacked pair of the diffusers and just 86 the soft panels altogether. More building and listening will be required in order to determine the end result. Is there EVER an end result?
