Took out the 1940 GE's and popped in these babies for a try.

Not as warm and wooly as the GE's. More detail and resolution while maintaining sweetness.

If they don't die an early death like their 300b Brothers, I think we will have a winner.

Mike,

These Elrog 211's look nice! Did your 300B's have an early death or are they still good?

Best,
Ken

Mine are still going strong, but friends who had them told me theirs died, but they got replacements.

I don't know why I hate the look of thoriated tungsten filaments. The amps are beautiful.

I'm back to the NOS GE 211's tonight (circa 1940's), military grade.

The Elrog's are good for a modern production tube, but they can't touch NOS GE 211's.

Awesome Mike. What is your fave source through the 211s - the r2r or your TT?

Gorgeous, Mike! I'm simultaneously intrigued and not wanting to know!

Guess I better start saving some some elrogs for when my own 211s come in...

Perhaps an obvious question, but had the elrogs had a fair chance to burn in?

Probably not. I think they need more hours. But I don't see their sonic signature changing that much. They are good - very good - more detailed, perhaps a little sweeter, but overall, I love the GE's.

A while back I'd gotten my hands on some very limited production Shuguang 211-b tubes (like the awesome value 845b) and compared them with NOS GE and preferred the Shuggies.

That was in a Melody AN211 integrated I owned... I wonder how they'd do in the Lampizator 211 bal...

Probably a moot point as I think they're unobtanium without a following.
