ZYX Universe II

Give me a week or two.

Have one on the way along with the Kronos Limited Edition table and the Andre Theriault Black Beauty tonearm.

ive only heard the 1st universe and it was great but it was side by side with a stone body koetsu and i preferred the koetsu . i hear the 2 is better but have yet to see or hear one.
 
I demoed a Universe II in my system for about a month. Like almost all top end cartridges, it has a character. I would compare it to say a McIntosh tube amp. IMHO the Universe II is essentially pretty neutral. It's not the last word at either frequency extreme. It doesn't have the midrange "magic" (SET amp like) of a stone body or a Benz LP-S. But I would consider it a better all rounder than either of those two cartridges.

Like everything else at this level, reactions are going to vary quite a bit depending upon biases of the listeners and the associated equipment its used with. I used it in my Kuzma setup, and have also heard it in two other setups. For what its worth, the Universe/Black Beauty/Kronos combo is supposed to be QUITE good. Haven't heard it myself. YMMV as always.

in that pricerange i would go mc anna all day long!!! just my opinion though. ive heard most in that range but never lived with any of them, so what do i know. :D
