Sound City (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Holy cow...this little ratty hole in the wall was amazing...their story is amazing...and who and what was recorded there was amazing...

When they talk about the one of a kind Neve console...you can literally feel that this analog masterpiece changed how we heard music...

Give it a whirl....Its free on amazon prime...not sure where else it is...

Imagine a place that made Fleetwood Mac, REO, Foreigner, Pat Benetar, etc...famous..They recorded neil young , etc etc etc etc....AMAZING

Its free on Amazon Prime...not sure where else you can see it...SEE IT !!!

Well, R2R Tape is still the best sounding music medium. ...And the slower the speed, and the larger the magnetic tape the better.

Am I right? ...Or is faster speed better? ...30 ips - 15 ips vs 7.5 ips ... yeah, that would make sense.
/// Just like CDs running at 78rpm, or 45rpm, versus 33 1/3rpm. ;)

Faster speed...the reason is any noise is reduced due to the fast transfer rate. Eats up tape but works. I used to on own a Pioneer 1020H RTR which had the fast machine..had sound on sound, sound with sound, reverb and 4 track dubbing....

Bob, did you ever hear of anyone cleaning the "heads", imagine what is on the tape....:panic::S:peace:

Yes Kev; tape heads have to be demagnetized periodically. ...Open Reel tape decks are high maintenance instruments, and the tapes themselves have to be stored properly, and they don't last forever like the CD, or LP? ...Anyway, they have the best sound, no matter what you have to do to keep everything running in good order.
