You have to admit these are very impressive ... MC2KW's ...

OK, the PICTURE makes it look like a toaster because it is foreshortened, but I have seen the MC2KW in person and the real thing does not look like anything like a toaster!

I agree they are beautiful in person ,but the Toaster ref made me laugh Bob lol:rofl: :)

I completely agree. They are amazing in person. Quite massive. Love the meters on the 2kw.

Yeah, a high-end toaster! :D ...Very fast/quick/efficient!

{Who did post that picture of that toaster? ;)}

If anyone has actually heard the MC2KW's, can you please comment on the sound quality vs. other amps in the McIntosh line? The only description I've been told is that the MC2KW are unlike any other McIntosh amp and are absolutely amazing. I am curious how the MC2KW's compare to current state of the art from other manufacturers.

One of the few McAmps that don't roll off on the top end.

Endless control over any speaker.

In my top 10 amps I have ever heard.

Think iron fist in velvet glove, except it's a size 1000 fist/glove.

Thanks E,

I appreciate your opinion very much. I absolutely love the way they look too.

As I mentioned earlier Joe, I heard the 2KWs alongside the 1.2KWs. They had even more control of the speakers, yet sounded more smooth and relaxed, and better detail and separation at lower volumes.

I also heard the MC2301s in a separate system/room during that same audition and I liked them better than the 1.2KWs also. If I were to buy a new Mc amp, depending on speakers, they would likely end up being my choice.

Thanks Jeff,

They being MC2301's or MC2KW's?

The 2KW's need their own separate room! I've seen them in person - and they take up so much real estate. I guess if you stacked them they would work - but then you run into sound diffusion issues! Best to leave them all over the floor. They are impressive, and the meters? WOW....something to behold.

Now THAT'S an amp for Revel Salon 2's!

Yeah, they are quite an imposing presence. They stack nicely in a 2x2x2 to keep them low, btw.

And they'd melt the Revels (figuratively speaking, lol). But on those Aidas... now THAT would be something. If you are in the $100k retail speaker category, these amps should be on your <very> short list.

E, I've neve seen an amplifier that could melt the Salon 2's , I've run amps that put out 2000w @ 4ohms, no problem !
