Yes, I have some little green machines

Dale...have you tried/demoed any of John Devore's other speakers with the green boxes?

Suoer 8s, 88s, Super 9s, Silverbacks, 3XLs?

I like John's more traditional narrow baffle speakers a bit more than the O96s and O93 (more so in terms of form factor than sonics necessarily), although I do find the Gibbons and Silverback present a wider and deeper stage and more crisp images on that stage vs. the Orangutans which are more about tone and texture (they certainly sound beautiful). Just curious if the Orangutans are your first foray into DeVore speakers and if not how the Gibbons or Silverback mated with Shindo.

I am particularly keeping an eye out on his new upcoming Gibbon X speaker (as you may recall, I had started that thread on the Xs on that other forum which caused that hoopla when DeVore's responses were edited). Just curious.

Thanks

That's right you did start that thread. So you are the reason I received an "infraction", and Cucumber Jones was banned.HaHa
I'm glad it happened because otherwise I wouldn't have ended up here.
I have a pair of Devore Super 8's in my second system that I have owned for about 6 yrs. They are a permanent fixture in my family room along with a Leben CS300XS. They suite the smallish room perfectly, not imposing but a perfect match. I have taken them upstairs to my main system to try with the Shindo gear and although they match up with the Shindo wonderfully, they are just too small for that room. The Super 8's are a beautifully simple speaker appearance wise. Being a professional woodworker, I truly can appreciate his cabinetry work.

And I was banned for that too; plus pointing out the undisclosed conflict of interest.

The narrow baffle speakers aren't as efficient as wider baffle ones. The baffle helps efficiency which I think is important.
