X1 IP queries at startup

I’ve noticed my X1 makes IP queries when it is powered on. Is this legit?

URLs accessed are api.db-ip.com, ip.api.com and iowho.is

Thanks to whomever can answer!
 
The X1 performs the I/O on power-up regardless of whether the app is being used or not.

3 attempts are made at api.db-ip.com (Canada) followed by 1 each for ip.api.com and up who.is (US).

I’ve got them blocked but would feel better knowing my firmware hasn't been compromised.
 
This is by design. The firmware merely wants to know what country you're in, and set country-specific setting(s) - especially Google DNS - which surprisingly does not work well in certain countries for Tidal / Qobuz. There was also an occasion where initialization of a certain streaming service from a certain non-supported country would cause a Lumin to become non responsive.
