Wyred 4 Sound Statement Amp

KEF wouldn't be my choice with W4S amps. A lot of other choices available even from speaker companies in California. May just boil down to KEF being EJ's personal speaker of choice.

Odd to that Kevin would chose KEF with Primaluna as he is/was a Nola dealer which would be a better pairing.

Actually price is $5k difference, $13,999 to $18,999. I listen to the Ref 3's in their sound room. Sounded pretty excellent to me.

The price difference between the two speakers is not the point. What is the point is that apparently the pairing of SS amps and "Modern" KEF speakers is not a particularly good pairing versus tube amps. That has been a common thread about the LS-50's for years. Apparently the Job 225 is an exception. I think that if I was going to debut a new amplifier in a price category double my previous norm I would have tried multiple brands and found one that not only "sounded" right, but was also setup friendly. Just my opinion as always and we all have one.

+ 1. Can't agree more. Moreover, I wonder if KEFs are used to voice the new reference Amp. It could highly skew the outcome.

I was not saying that they are a perfect match or anything like that. I have no knowledge on the subject. I only posted the correct price difference for accuracy.

I do know that they have paired with KEF before, for example 2015 RMAF, which was given best of show.

The one point you made is that everyone hears different and likes different things. I did directly compare the Job and the Wyred ST-500mkII amplifier using LS-50s. I felt it was extremely close, but when it was all said and done I picked the W4S amplifier.

With the MC speakers it performs wonderfully. But, as you know, I have not had the chance to do tons of comparisons with various equipment. I just do not have access to all the various equipment, nor the budget to would allow for it. I can only say how excellent the equipment all performs together for me. At the end of the day I guess this is the most important point.

At this point I have no interest in the Statement in that 750 WPC is beyond a point where I would have any desire what so ever. If a lower version comes out I would probably like to hear it to compare.

If I ever have access to a good tube amplifier I would love to compare it. At some point I may want to try and get my hands on a McIntosh (the main reason as I think I have already stated is because I grew up right next to the Mc factory in Binghamton).:yahoo1:

Since the debut at THE has come and gone, I wrote to Wyred to see when the public will be able to buy it.

Tony said: Our product designer says 3 - 6 months. Hopefully sooner but that’s the estimate today.

So, still a way off. Wonder if reviewers will get advance copies.
