Can I mention the audio site? ...It's that one where I met great people like Trung.

Anyway, I'll show you the avatar (my avatar) which is right in the middle of all that controversy.
And you tell me if it's inappropriate. ...I think one or two members over there commented negatively towards it; and then few more members seem to like it.

Me, I just don't know, I work for the freedom department.

I see nothing wrong with that avatar. I can't imagine anyone getting upset over it.

Would you care to divulge the name of the site?????

The problem as I see it is they thought she was taking them off while in actuality she is putting them on. Their perspective is skewed. That's all.

I think it's more of a special 'cult' type of forum Paul.

By the way, James (from Bryston) is a top gun over there. ...He has nothing to do with my avatar or other insignificant type of controversies though; James' a good guy. ...So is Doc, Bob (CactusBob), Trung, and a bunch more.

BUT! There are certainly few individuals over there who got it all wrong! ...You know, the little complainers about nothing. ...The 'cult' from outer space!
And then that volunteer (for whatever it means), by the name of JohnR, sent me a PM to let me know that my avatar was against the forum's rules!
And I've been a member there since last April! ...With always that same avatar!

I did not reply to his PM because I thought that he was only kidding (he put that emoticon at the end of his phrase; ;) ).

Then, in a public post he said to me to check my PMs and reply to them. So I checked again and there was another one (I did not know about this second PM).
He asked me to change my avatar, in the second PM.
By the way, for three days I tried to find the forum's rules, but I saw them nowhere.
At least it would have been nice of him to give me the link to them rules (if there is one indeed).

I'm very easy, and an avatar is just that, and even if someone doesn't like it; I am always willing to please EVERYONE.
I could have choose another one (a nice speaker for example, or amplifier, or preamp, or music album's cover of Sarah Brightman), but I truly felt wrongly spotted, and that my avatar wasn't offensive in any way, shape or form. ...And I simply decided to stand my ground as a very responsible and intelligent adult; they would have to remove my avatar from over my dead body! :D

I tell you Paul, there are some audio forums out there which it is preferable to simply stay away from. ...It is sad though; because with the very few individuals who do not respect your vision, your opinion, your avatar, on the flip side there are all the other good members.

I'm a very peaceful person, and a very good person too, and audio (music) and video (cinema) are two of the major parts in my life.
I don't even have 300 posts over there (289 I believe) since last April, and all my posts are splendid (helpful, giving, friendly, with humor too, ...), and it is obvious I'm doing only good. But man! ...There are always some sick apples who see bad even in good! ...Amazing sometimes that only one or two or three complainers can overpower the overall peaceful majority!
 
Alright, here's just the thread where the small public exchange took place earlier today (start at post #17).
Btw, Restricted means Banned, I believe. ...Because I cannot post any longer, and lost my Profile entirely, and cannot access several of their 'doors'.
...And of course no warning, no provision to the forum's rules, nothing.

Perhaps I should mention this to James? ...Or simply forget about it just as I did with AA and WBF. ...I am so tired of being insulted. ...And I'm certainly not the only one.

The thread is very short too; only 23 replies. ...And sadly you cannot see my avatar anymore, only my username (North Star).

Quite frankly this is so stupid! It should not have been ever mentioned in the first place; regarding my innocent avatar.
I didn't put any serious attention to it at the beginning; I truly thought that two people were just joking around.
But no, couple people had to try in controlling my life by complaining to a mod because they didn't like my avatar! And one of them (volunteer), I guess was serious, and had to please them couple complainers! He can do all he wants with his own, but no way he can control other people's own 'vision'. ...And all of you guys, and gals here, know exactly what I mean.
So, he discarded me! ...Well, he did ask for it. I hope he's real happy now.
 
Normally I'd never speak up about someones avatar, but since it's on topic I'll say my piece. This avatar doesn't really offend me. But what girly avatars like this do is make me self conscious while my kids or wife or others are around and I'm browsing through forums. We're pretty conservative, so I'd prefer people didn't use avatars like this, but I would never speak up about it unprompted. Rather than try to make everyone else suit my tastes, I prefer to work around their tastes if mine differ. It's easy enough to scroll them off page if needed.

Please don't take this as a passive aggressive attempt to say "I don't like your avatar either". I'm just offering my two cents. If it was indeed against the forum rules, fair enough; he should have said so politely with a reference to the rules as you mentioned.

Very well said. I do agree. Sometimes if my mom or someone from work glances over my shoulder it looks like I'm on some other naughty site not an audio site. I don't mind but someone behind me may not understand.
 
To much ankle. However, it is much better than that tongue covered in whatever fungus you used before getting banned at another site. Assuming that was you.

Casey, I totally respect what you just said.

As for that particular avatar (from the first post of this thread); even my kids or ex-wife would never feel offended by it.
But that's my own entourage. ...In Canada here, in our igloos, we are all pretty warm/open and relaxed.
We're not like in Russia, with their laws on gays and lesbians. ...A la Poutine style.

P.S. To this day I never saw the rules of their forums (AC). ...And I did search extensively for several days.

Bud, only very rarely I would say frankly what's on my mind in the spur of the emotional moment, but still always with respect.
And if you want to know more about my overall character; you can always read the other posts of mine from over there, or here.
I get along just fine with most all of the people than just those few ones.

Anyway, I found that one was a little too much, and it's not friendly to not direct you to their rules.

And I can give you other examples where some of their members were totally out of track in their absolutely unnecessary confusion; like when I said once: "Smells like 'glory'." ...Check that one out (it's quite recent), and you tell me.

No sir Bud, to fully understand the context and the feeling of another person you have to be discreet, always friendly, and even help the other person in directing him in the right direction. ...I wasn't. I was simply judged, and cut of my earned privilege.

Hey, that's not the only audio site which operates in a kind of dictatorial way. ...And all of this just for a totally innocent avatar. Jeez, the world we live in sometimes!

On the other hand, the ankle does have a certain appeal.
 
Well, I was lead to it. ...They got what they asked for; they complained to the mods about my avatar, and the rest is history.
The mod has nothing to do with it; he was just the messenger. I'm sure John is a good guy.
My reply was indirectly addressed, through him, to the queers who couldn't control their overjoy.

I know which members who cried. ...And they can keep at it for the rest of their life. ...Me I'm free again, from another life's craziness. ...And I feel much stronger, and much happier here.

Hey, I just want to enjoy this short life on Earth, with the music I love listening to, and with the people I love too.
And if someone doesn't approve of that avatar; I'd say he has an issue with internal equilibrium. ...And he should keep it to himself, and not blame me for his own issue!

Insulting my intelligence level will always turn back on you, eventually, sooner or faster, and also without me having to add more to what I already said. There! ;)
 
Bob rejoin under the name Arctic light give it some time & then put the same avatar up, when asked to change it put an up close picture of your ass as your avatar. :fingers:
