With a Heavy Heart

RIP Joe. You put a smile on many of our faces over the years.

My first High End cartridge was a Grado Signature 8, IIRC. I think it was $200. It was a big step up from my Shure M97. I think that Joe designed Moving Iron cartridges, rather than Moving Magnet - don't know what the difference it, but they were high output. Probably read about them in TAS. Never got to try his headphones. He made some really major contributions to the field. 90 is a good age.

My love for analog and working with phono cartridges began by learning my way around a Signature 3. What a cartridge... A true loss for our industry but my heart goes out to his family and close friends who will miss the man most all. God's speed Joe. Thank you for your mark on the world.
