At the request of some of our members, the Wilson Benesch Forum is now open.
 
I will be the first one to post on this forum. I have a pair of Wilson Benesch Vector speakers. Just awesome speakers, dynamic as hell when the music demands. Very neutral without sounding sterile/clinical. Match them with electronics just to the warm side of neutral and they compete with anything that Magico and YG Acoustics can offer in a comparable price range (while being more aesthetically pleasing imo). Also, their size and weight is very manageable. If only their marketing matched their design/technical merits, they would be much better known in the US.
 
I recently bought a pair of Wilson Benesch Act 1 Evolution. Im totally happy with them and would echo the above attributes mentioned by apdoc. Mine probably only have 150 hours on them and the dealer recommends up to 500 hours.
If they keep improving then great but I think they sound wonderful now :D

Wow! I am jealous! I would love to hear those speakers but it is rather unlikely as it would be hard to find a dealer in the US who has them available for audition.
 
What colour panels did you go for apdoc? Mine are regal silver.
The fit and finish is impressive.
When my daughter walks past the speakers she stops to look at herself in the mirror reflection of the carbon fibre.

I went for the White Gloss option -- looks terrific.
 
I've owned some of the best speakers money can buy & people are speechless when I sell them & move on to the next best flavour. These have stopped me in my tracks for 3 years now.... The Torus Infrasonic Generators really are "exceptional" & transform any system.

Yes, that pic was taken just after I acquired the WB gear. Had a few amps since then & some.
 
I'm glad to see a dedicated forum where we can all learn more about these great speakers. As "apdoc2004" mentioned earlier, this is an extremely competitive brand with performance and build quality to match, going head to head with the likes of Wilson (US), Magico and YG at much more attainable price levels. The new A.C.T. One Evolution is a most impressive speaker by any standard.

Agreed. Having owned and enjoyed both the ACT (2nd gen not c60 or new evolution) and a single Torus, WB are amazing speakers and very well designed. I would love to hear the new evolution. WB often pair with CH Precision at shows.

Well done! WB is an undiscovered gem.

Engineering driven and good at the real stuff; designing and manufacturing their own cabinets and drivers from carbon fibre/aluminum + innovative (and proprietary) drivers. Their machined parts are almost sensual to the touch, such is the attention to detail and care in the finishing. Striking styling but very different from the norm.

Not that good at self promotion (yet) though, very understated and stiff upper lip.

The Endeavours are sublime sounding; last heard them driven by Gryphon Mephisto/pre + TAD CDP in a roughly 500 sq ft room. Not sure that a Torus would be required though, depending on room size, buy that combo would be more price effective than a pair of Cardinals ... :)

Congratulations, bobwah! If I may ask, what other speakers were on the shortlist before you decided on the Act 1 Evos, and what were your previous speakers?

Before I got the WB I was using some Lenehan Ml1's. They're a small stand mound speaker that are excellent value as they're locally made. This was my first foray into "high end" I actually did most of my listening with headphones (hd800,th900) as I have a young family. As much as I liked headphones I always wanted to assemble a excellent 2 channel system but wasn't able to due to kids/living arrangements.
Late last year I was finally in a position to spend some serious coin on potentially end game system.
Where I live I wasn't able to do much auditioning and being a hands on small business owner i wasn't able to travel long distances.
So I bought the Act without audition [emoji1]
I did a LOT of research online in regards to WB the company and how their speakers were received previously. And the Mrs liked the look of the Act 1 more than my other choices [emoji38]
My Shortlist was
Vivid Giya 3 - wife wouldn't let these in the house. I like them
Magico s3
Gauder acoustic cassiano
Tad Cr1
All great speakers that I'm sure would of given me great pleasure.
I'm smitten with the act 1 evo's.
Whatever I feed them that's what the give me in a totally natural and well rounded package.

Very nice. They are the Endeavours, WB's ultimate stand mounts, although the stand is really an integral part of the speakers. Plus, the binding post are at the bottom of the stand.
 
I consider to trade my Verity Audio Parsifal for ACT Evo 1 , my question is regarding the bass,
my Verity is rated 25Hz and I very like the bass and in general the speaker , Evo 1 is 34Hz but in many reviews reviewer praise the ability of WB produce deep bass.
Is the trade worth it and is the bass is that good and deep?

Hi Stigmater,
I own the Act 1 Evo and they are very capable in the bass.
My other speakers are TAD r1. Obviously the TAD go deeper and are more powerful but the Act 1 Evo are very satisfying and within the right sized room I don't think you would be disappointed.
I have tried a few different amps with them and each time I upgrade the Act 1 Evo get better. I'm sure they're capable of more.
The Act 1 Evo are such a transparent speaker that it's easy to judge your partnering ancillary components.
I can't comment on your parsivals as I haven't heard them.
