You have to take your time to peel the

Funny story...when I bought my X1s second hand, the original owner who sold them had owned them for nearly 15 years...14 of which they were placed into storage because they moved. Eventually, I am told his wife asked him to sell them because they had been paying for storage rental for over a decade. When they arrived, they still had this plastic wrap around the entire speaker, and the feet had never been put on before either. So basically mint condition speakers but 15 years old...they actually did need to replace 2 cones, but otherwise perfect.

They look stunning, Nelson! Congrats again!

Curious, how far from the front and side walls are they?

Allen,
They are very close.
Just inches from the right side wall
And a 2.5 feet from the back wall

But they sound like they are in a bigger room

FWIW...I have seen a LOT of Wilsons set up that way. Mine included. Conrad Johnson's own demo room with Wilson X1 was setup that way as well...right out towards the corners of the room, a couple feet in front from the wall and toed inward towards the listener. And they sounded great that way in each setup I have heard. Congrats again.

In the end, that's what really counts, right?

Nelson, love how you describe that it feels like it's playing in a much bigger room. The walls melt away and what's left is just the performance. Awesome!!:audiophile:

That is exactly the way I would describe them as well...I have spent countless hours doing auditions in the dealer's room over the last 7 years...and when you play Dark side of the Moon on Alexias, it is shocking (to me) how much space you get in this recording through these speakers...its actually kinda insane. I have been fortunate to hear a slew of great speakers in that room...but I have never heard something like the Alexia just open up the air around me and create a soundstage as in 'a...stage...of...SOUND' like they did on DSOTM. I remember thinking I expected this size of soundstage from an XLF or a Grande Utopia EM. (And i have actually heard both in that same room, btw.) Truly impressive.

Lloyd, are you possibly considering a pair of Alexias for yourself?

How much can you get a used pair for?
Bob, I go on Agon almost daily. I've yet to see a pair of Alexias for sale there. They will show up eventually, but I bet they are also snatched up quite quickly.

Mike,

Glad you started this thread.

Nelson,

Your Alexias are looking very nice.
