Why all the advertising lately?

I have notice several new threads appearing lately that are nothing but advertisements. In most cases when you check their forum posts it is clear that they are here for no reason except to advertise. I would think that judging by Mike being an audio dealer and owning a B&M store besides this forum that he might not be thrilled with these people coming in here for free advertising, sometimes in direct competition to his products. I have also noticed that many of these posts are for products that are unknown and they originate from the Far East. This also makes me think that they sometimes they might be nothing but a scam or worse.

I propose that new members should have to contribute, maybe a certain number of posts in other threads prior to being allowed to create a new thread. I have seen this sort of thing in other forums of all types. Maybe have to have 20 posts before being allowed to create a new thread. Just a thought because these advertisements are an irritant, but being that many are in direct competition to the owner of this forum I do not believe they should be allowed.

We are doing a M6 setup today in Miami. I’ll respond more later, but I agree.

Yes, probably most do not affect Mike, but some might. Also, if they are as I suspect some are, nefarious in some way then it could definitely be an issue.

Hi i flagged something like this a week ago, the thread was about a cable, far east i think ,and all it was, was blerb taken from what looked like a company release, i think mike took it down, then another one came up same guy, think that has gone now also, people on this site, are not that gullible, surly but as you say in this hobby of, smoke mirrors and a good pouring of snake oil, we all have to be on our guard,

Nice on the delivery and setup Mike… you treat your customers well. kudos!

Well when the only post they make is " like an advertisement" well its out of form. Mike if I'm not mistaken, always noted for these "business" to contact him first.

And congrats to the customer getting some awesome speakers.

I for one find shills on audio forums more insidious than people who advertise out in the open who they are and what their motives are.

I absolutely agree. Being up front and open is far more credible then coming to an audio forum and posting several posts/threads which are nothing more than advertisements.
