Obviously a lot of folks love Stillpoints - under components, speakers, etc.

How many of you have tried Ultra 5's under your speakers and found you preferred the sound without them?

(just curious)

On my system :

With MC 601's preferred with ON (Big time )

With MC275's preferred with OUT

Oops btw mine's are Ultra SS not the 5

Under Alexia's - no brainer. Sounds great! Ian - remember - tighten fully, then back off a quarter turn (that's from the horses mouth himself).

Mike, Just curious. Did you find the same results on the D'agostino and Cary ? I found some mixed results on SS and Tube.

I haven't tried them. I got them specifically for the Alexia's. Took them out of the box and put them right on the speakers.

My friend had similar results to you Paul. Some was good, some, not so good. I wonder how the Stillpoints compare to the Ansuz stuff. Lars did a demo at CES that left us shaking our heads.

After all my room treatments, I had to move my speakers a bit. I'm now 2 feet, 4 inches from the back wall and 2 feet from the side wall. I was more like 4 feet and 2 feet, 8 inches. The folks at Wilson were very helpful with ideas. They said most installs are 2-3 feet from the back wall.

I haven't install them properly on my speakers yet ( talking with still points via email about the adapters ) so I'm still able to move them. ( yes I have to lift 200lbs to do it lol )

However I really liked on 601's - the symbol sounds got much sharper and cleaner and sound stage got bigger as well so I'm happy with them.

but with 275's - I don't feel like listen to tube amps anymore sound some what similar to 601's .

I don't know if you had a good time with Cary amp before the installation of Still points. but hear them again Mike and let me know how you feel.

Hmm, if you back them off a bit, you're loosening the stillpoint from the adapter, not the adapter from the Alexia. Is that right? I would think you want the Stillpoint screwed into the adapter all the way. If so, you can't ever go backwards...

Interesting. You got help from Wilson? Amazing. They just ignored me.

Yes, very helpful! I'm back to my original positioning though! OCD + Audiophile = bad combination.
