Love my Ayre QB-9 DSD; but I've had it a while, and just want to try something new, fresh, and good.

Vote? Thanks

The Ayre Codex sounded wonderful in my system when Jim brought it over.

But I think for fun, I would go with the Lampizator Amber DAC.

I think you should buy whatever you are going to buy after everyone has chimed in and I'm certain what you buy won't be any of the recommended DACs. :D

Ayre Codex.

I am under the impression that the Codex is edging out the QB-9 on performance and a new flagship might be in the works.

Sorry - just saw the poll above.

I would do the Mytek. FUTURE PROOF!!!!

Agreed, just the MQA feature alone gives it the edge...and I am not even impressed with MQA yet. However, for streaming it is a good idea and perhaps for that alone I will get a Meridian Explorer 2 as a backup streaming Dac.

How does the MQA feature work?

It decodes MQA.

I understand that part but I'm just wondering if it does it inside an FPGA, or if it uses an ARM processor or something like that. Roon decodes MQA too. So if you're using Roon, every DAC is MQA capable.

Will sell you my lampi dsd only Dac (pcm conversion thru Jriver) for half of retail.

Well...I'll give you this; I did go, against popular opinion.

The Codex got the most votes; but my thinking...in the end...is it must be, very similar to the QB-9.

So...I'll give the Brooklyn a try, for some truly new flavor ;)

I sold my Codex to buy a Brooklyn some time ago. No regrets. The Codex sounded great but ran HOT [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91]

Also the power cord kept knocking it over on its side. Annoying.

MQA is fun. Full featured DAC. Mytek did a fine job...

Here is a Tube DAC with replaceable caps that I would love to try-

There are some excellent user reviews on it. I like the fact that the Caps are held in place with screws so you can roll the caps as well as the tubes. I would love to try some Jupiter caps in it although the stock Obbligato Golds are excellent and cost about $28 a piece and there are 4 of them. I just may have to buy one to tinker with.

There are a handful of us that already own the MP DAC. I have had it since August. Joe and the others since the first of the year.
