Hi i have Spectral DMA 360 mk 2 monos, DMC 30SS pre, Esoteric K0-1X,cd player, Wilson audio sasha's , speakers cables are speaker Matrix HD60, interconnects oracle matrix 50, room 12 foot by 25 , ish, love the the sound, everything coming into the UK you can put at least a third on maybe more, from the state's, and Europe now, i see boulder in England eBay used, and AudioNet , used, someone i know has a pair of Spectral DMA 400 RS, but he wants mine and £20,000, for them, SPECTRAL want a fortune in Europe for their gear, probably, that's why we have no dealer in the UK, all advice welcomed, I'm not rich, maybe, £15,000, -£20,000, and selling mine,

The thing is i only play music on the weekends ,, thanks

or should i buy a nice apartment in Thailand, and be happy

playing rock and anything guitar based, ish

I’ve always wanted to experience Spectral. I’d love to have them come out with an integrated but that’ll probably never happen.

Many Spectral owners seem very happy and it always looks like they move up the line.

Hi, i do like the sound, but no dealer, and they are rarer then hens teeth in the UK, had spectral for over 20 years, never had any problems with any gear ive had, but so expensive in the UK, down to the distributer i guess, if i could get USA used prices i would go all in,,

as we are now out of Europe, and new to this game of hatetread towards us, some boarders are charging us stupid money to get imports in, again bullying of the power of Europe, so scared that others may leave, but that's another story,
but must admit at shows and friends, all other gear does not quite sound as good as spectral,

and that apartment in Thailand does sound appealing,

I agree with you. However, why not consider something that is domestic to you in the UK or Europe?

If you could sell your spectral pre+ monos and pick up an Audionet Humboldt Flagship integrated.

Stereo Magazine: Integrated Amplifier Test

That would be my recommendation. But, I'm not sure of its pricing in the EU.

It would be *closest to Spectral's character or lack thereof (linear, fast, open, low distortion and high resolution) and perhaps maybe surpass it. Considering this is the Scientist series.

Also, consider Audionet's regular line if you on a budget or desire separates.

The Scientist series and old Audionet gear are two different cups of tea soundwise. The older gear is closer to Spectral, the Scientist series is more refined, richer sound colors, deeper bass.

there is one in the UK Audionet Humboldt £25,000, i have done deals with these guy's before, emporiumhifi, will give them a call, also boulder 1160-1110 pre power £37,000, used, wow so much more than i want to spend, have the money just can't justify spending it,
maybe £20, 000 plus mine, who knows ,, which would be better , all info welcomed

sell the spectral and get the humboldt!! best amp for wilsons in any case.

will give them a call ,,, but what about the boulder , is that another level , this would be my last god-given hifi

The Boulders are very good, but not another level. The Audionet Scientist series is more advanced technically, more like Soulution.

Pretty much every reviewer testing the Humboldt, or Stern/Heisenberg for that matter, hast bought them.

+1

Humboldt is your Spectral on Steroids.

As as my friend Kuoppis mentioned above. Humboldt compares with the best Solid State out of Switzerland.

Meaning their neutrality, extreme resolution low distortion and dynamics.

It will also pair will with your MIT and Esoteric gear.

Boulder is amazing gear. But, they are more like Pass Labs and Gryphon IMHO. Different taste.

You are coming from Spectral and stated you like it. So , a wideband very neutral and extremely linear amp.

Humboldt is a clear upgrade path for you.

True.

However, the Scientists series actually compares with the Spectral SV Series their flagship amps.

In the US, Spectral of course is a better value than a pair of Heisenberg amps.

But, outside of the US, I'd go for the Audionet Scientist series.

thanks for the info will call emporium up tomorrow, its hard to see how one box can beat my spectral, but time does move on, and i love the look of my spectral,,

playing it now, Walter Trout Survivor blues, sounds wonderful, Jesus what a BIG move
will try to have it on a week trail,

Nice.

When you say playing it now. Are you referring to the Humboldt in your system?

Or, playing your existing gear?

If so , makes sense to have the Humbodlt on trial for a week so, you can be sure it is the right move for you.

Btw, what is the reason for the upgrade/change? Do you want more modern electronics? Something different?

Because you did state you like your system. So, curious as to what you are trying to improve?

hi, i have just phoned Emporiumhifi, and had a chat, they have offered me £14000, for my spectral pre and mono power, two mains cables, and a set of interconnects, which i think is pretty good, and that means i am not trying to sell everything myself, witch could take some time, they are going to bring it over in a couple of weeks so i can have it for a few days, so the balance will be £11000,

I do like my Spectral, but maybe want something a bit better, weather the humbodlt will sound better to me, will be sorted in the home demo, for a few days, will be reading up on the humbodlt, but as always hearing is believing,

This is an X-demo model so pretty new, and not abused, perfect condition manuals, and flight case, remote etc, and earthing cable, will let you know how i get on, i hope i will be blown away buy it, will make the deal a lot easier to do, as to me £11,000, is quite a lot of money,

Congrats. Yes, given that used Spectral is a rarity in the 230V market, there is probably demand for good used Spectral gear as new stuff is so expensive outside of the US.

Please keep us posted on your Humdolt in home demo.

I'm not sure what the "question" was...but if I could make a suggestion, it would be to look into improving your room.

Diffusion panels and strategically placed absobers or bass traps can bring more of an engaging experience than spending a lot of money on new gear.

That being said, if I were considering hardware upgrades to the system you've listed above, I'd consider getting a Shunyata Everest power distributor, at the very least for your preamp and source components (I don't know if you run the amps straight to the wall).

The room is fine, i have paintings on all walls, two beams running across the ceiling, left to right, so not flat, no boom, no echo, carpet on the floor, plants sofa, etc, run my amps through a high quality mains block, musicworks, and a dedicated spur, the amps are getting a bit old now, don't know exactly maybe 10 years old, just looked up the shunyats everest, $8000, god only knows what that would cost here in the uk, and i have no power problems, that i can tell,

Thanks for all your input, just a quick line to say it is on next Saturday, just to let you know the new thread will be called , Spectral vs Audionet, will see you again next Saturday, cheers ,,andy :exciting: can't wait,
