Where do you get your vinyl from

Doug, I think you will really enjoy your re-entry into the vinyl world. Everybody above has given you good advice. I will add that when I buy new records including past titles that are being re-issued, that you can't go wrong buying any titles being released by Acoustic Sounds. They own their own record pressing plant called Quality Record Pressings. Records pressed by them are some of the best vinyl records I have ever heard, super quiet and great sound quality.
I also like to buy re-issues that have been remastered by Bernie Grundman, I think he does a superb job mastering older titles. Also, RTI presses good quality records, and Mobile Fidelity also does some fantastic re-issues.

Most of all, have fun !! And get yourself a good record cleaning machine !!

+1

I would also add the label 4Men With Beards. They have nice quality pressings too.

All you guys rock! Thanks so much for the input. This is a huge help to me and hopefully to others in the same boat. I think I'm just as exited for the thrill of the hunt as much as the actual playing!

Man, another thread I can't find any way to contribute to! I told you guys that this is just not the world I live in.:sigh:

I was in the same boat as you. Didn't listen to a vinyl record for some twenty years. I love the convenience of digital and have gotten to the point where it sounds damn good to me. Vinyl seemed too much of a bother with all the setting up, cleaning, storing, flipping over, etc... I think what has changed the most is that I have time for vinyl now. I remember how it use to make me feel when I bought a new record and hurried home to listen. I spent countless hours enjoying life through music, and I still do, but vinyl brings me back to a simpler time.

No, I do have vinyl and enjoy it very much. I have about 240 records or so and keep slowly adding. I even took the trouble to properly learn how to care for vinyl records and set up TTs (although with my eyes now, those days may be past), all the way through cleaning and restoration of records. I also learned how to hunt for records. It's one of the funnest parts of the hobby, but that is the problem because I don't buy or have any interest in the records most folks here do. So to avoid further confusion I'm going to risk it now and post where I find my records.
I get my records from Record shows, Bargain Bins at record shops (or I should say "shop" because I only have one), yard sales and swap meets. I only buy used records. I'm not a record collector though, I buy records to play them. Ok, let the put-downs commence.

I don't think you'll get any put-downs here. It's amazing what can be had at yard sales, etc... It's a thrill of the hunt kind of thing. I find myself lately stopping at yard sales thinking, "hey they just might have some old records they're throwing out." I can definitely see where it could become a problem, but a good one at that!

No put downs from me..I have bought albums on ebay, online store, goodwill, swap meets...etc...and like you, my collection is limited to a few hundred because I only KEEP what I will listen to...I don't collect what I don't need..

Now I have had multiple copies of something because say I had a VG quality of an eagles album - If I can get a MINT one, I do and then the VG one goes to goodwill..so by this point, almost all that I own is mint.

You will never get a PUT down from this group...it is not like that OTHER board...:D

Hey Dave, She is the most beautiful one yet !!

Mark...thanks buddy. That's Jolene, I've got 3 or 4 really good pics of her. The one I had of her yesterday was taken in her home this one at a outside cafe.
