I know once it's out there, anyone can use it but 2 times this week I have run into my own photos, one on a web site and one in a CL ad.

First, on another site someone points out a site called HIFI Shock, which show pictures of gear. The poster was pointing out the pages of Dynaudio pictures and since I have several, I looked. The very first pic of a Dynaudio 42 is mine, dust on the driver and all.

Then today I am scanning the Philly CL Electronics and find someone local selling a very similar pre amp as me, a VAC CPA (mine is CLA) MKII. Again because of asking price, I was curious in the event I try to sell mine. So the first pic is of the unit and cables and power supply sitting on a bed. I click on the second photo and BAM, there is a shot of MY VAC in my VTA rack.

How do you feel when you see people using your photos for their own Ad?

If they are trying to sell a similar product, I do not like it because it's kind of like fraud and misrepresentation. For other purposes, I guess I don't mind too much. Credit should be given to the photog or it should be clearly stated the photo is not that of the poster.

It ain't worst than people playing musical instruments that they stole from you. ...And the electronics (pedals, amps, mics, ...) that come with it, plus your audio gear (stereos, amps, receivers, etc., etc., etc.).

And your jewelry that they give to their wives! ...Diamonds, silver, gold, ...

And all your black & white pictures from your lifetime on planet Earth! ...Family pictures, and family souvenirs.

All your old collections (music, movies, money, ...).

And much more, and yes, that is exactly my situation! ...It's been roughly six years now, and I still can't get over it.
And you've never heard me talk about before, only now because the title of your thread brought me right back to it.

Eggs-zactly how I feel!

Brian, do you have legal rights on this particular matter? ...Your state, what kind of laws you guys are running? ...Copyright photographs.
The Internet, the websites; who run them? The Internet cops; where are they, are they any good, can they help, or cause even more trouble!!! Can you sue people on The Internet for using your own pictures, and for insulting you?
If not it's coming! And it is already in effect here in Canada for bullying. ...And other stuff too like showing torture pictures; of animals, and humans (like decapitation).

Last, is this an emotional/artistic/personal violation that is impeaching in your lifestyle? And does it in any way affect your sleep at night?

I feel like deja vu.

* Denounce that person(s) publicly, all over!

Bob, Sorry to hear your situation. That really sucks. I know the pic thing is no big deal compared to getting robbed.

I'm not looking to start any real trouble, it was just odd that I happened on to it twice within a few days.

If there is anything I can help you out with, I surely would.

Brian
