What's Wrong With The LS-26??

Thanks Cyril, must have been the way I read the post Chris made, all clear now.

Hey Chris congrats on the LS-26 purchase. The Sovtek and EH 6H30 give you some tube rolling options depending on the flavor you are after. Beware of the fake DR super tubes, lots floating around.

The Sovtek and EH 6H30's are the same tube and made in the same plant. The only difference is that the EH's have gold pins otherwise they are identical. I use them in my BAT VK-51se. You can look for some NOS 6H30's but they are expensive and hard to find. I have read mixed reviews on them.

Congrats on the new Preamp.

Wow I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

So...I like it; plenty! :audiophile:

Sure...I can see why some don't; or think it's m'eh. It really is, very linear...for a tube unit.

But paired with the VT-50, that's lending some weight and body; and that's turning out, to have very good synergy...with the PMCs.

If I wanted to warm things up a bit...I could always go KT-88s, in place of the 6550Cs; but I'm not ready for that crap-shoot yet

Just for sh*ts & giggles (uh-oh...last time I started a sentence like that, a sh*t-storm ensued); what's my upgrade path, when I'm ready?

27? Ref 3? Or step the amp up, to like a Ref 75?

Depending on your budget, I would skip LS-27 and Ref 3 (which is what I still have) and go for either Ref 5SE to upgrade pre or go with Ref 75 over VT-50. And between the pre or the power amp, I'd go with upgrading the power amp first.
