today i am starting to prepare my livingroom for all this new equipment coming. the space you see is what i look at when i look up from my listening position. the front wall is 11ft to the hallway, and 14 ft wall to wall.
those pics on the wall are going to be moved up and some acoustic panels will line the lower wall. there will be a curtain across the hallway because one of my speakers needs to sit in that area. i made the room larger by moving the couch back closer to the rear wall, i will get curtains to put over the large windows there. therefor the listening area is longer and wider now, to be able to switch from monitors to full range speakers.
but....... the ceiling???? what can i do with it? anything?? its 8.5ft at the right corner and near 11ft at the peak. and my room is obviously slanted due to this problem. there are acoustic panels in the ceiling in between the beams, but it dont seem right. any ideas??or do you think i am ok. i will also line the one side wall with acoustic panels and the left side wall will be where the other couch is pushed back to have an open floor while the stereo is on. lol couch will be pushed back to the kitchen. love those furniture sliders

No ideas??? Ok then it's all your fault when my setup sound like crap!!! Lmao!!!!
 
Just get those 3 paintings leveled with one another and all will be good!

Seriously, I think the ceiling will be fine.

Sweet!!! I thought those rafters would be like music catching channels. You don't like the way I hang pics.??? Lol!! I like to go put nails in the wall at different heights then hang em wherever they fall. Lmao!! All my friends that come here tell me to fix the pics. Lol that's why I don't invite em back. Lmao!!!!

Thx!! I really didn't want to do anything . Cause it would be hard to do on the ceiling.

If there is nothing else I learned in this area of room acoustics investigation is: One thing at a time my friend. Do the easy things first and see how it sounds before sinking more money into it or doing harder things. The thing you don't want to do is get a bunch of panels, traps, etc. and end up spending needless money or worse, ending up with a worse room then when you started.

Your completely right. That's exactly what I'm scared of. Since I'm probably going to make my own panels, it's not so much the money as the time I spend on it. Don't want to spend time making something I don't need..... Oh wait my spare bedrooms are filled with furniture I made but have no use for. Lol.
Plus I have 2 big fluffy couches that keep sound from bouncing.
I guess I can ditch the indoor outdoor carpeting and get a thicker nicer throw rug.
Oh and straighten those pics before it drives Doug crazy... Lol!!!

Actually thos pics are coming down Doug!!! I'm changing over to loud ugly homemade acoustic panels in different designs. I might keep the rooster, its a hand painted pic and not a print. And has some sentimentall value to me. But all the others are going soon. It's a whole room change I been working on little by little.
 
Steve, the only thing I can see, although small, it may have a huge effect.... pic 1 will fit inside pic 3 nicely....:rofl: p.s. you have a pm.
