What would you choose ?

I'd listen before making a decision.

However, for fun, and, contrary to what people who know me might think, I'd say Wilson. I am a Magico fan. However, the only times I heard Wilson at their best to my ears was with tube gear, so I predict Wilson would have the best synergy with Mac.

Magico has always sounded good to me, however, all the times I've heard them they have been driven by high quality, high current, solid state. Not to say Mac isn't "high quality" but Mac leans to the warm polite side, IMO.

I've heard both in less than ideal settings and only briefly. So you can take
these comments in that context. I've heard the Alexia in three
different systems and all I can say is that I prefer it to the Sasha, but I don't
like it or the S5 nearly as much as I do the Q3.

I listen mostly to classical, some jazz and very little rock. The Q3 is
exceptionally accurate to the source and I loved it with acoustic music. It
needs to be in a great system. The Alexia and S5 have more
"slam" and that may appeal to jazz and rock fans more than to
classical fans. I think the S5 is designed to be a bit warmer with a punchier
bass than the other Q-series Magico speakers.

My strong preference would be to choose your speakers first, then your electronics. But given your question, I'd lean toward Wilson. I like both brands, and I own Magico, but I think Wilsons would more likely be a better match for McIntosh amps. That said, it would be helpful to know which models you have in mind, your room dimensions, and musical and listening preferences. You should be trying to find a way to listen first before deciding. Wilsons and Magicos do not sound the same.

I think you need to try out both and preferably with similar components and in a similar listening environment. What are you using now and are you dissatisfied with them in any way? I will say my EPOS monitors sound very good with my tubed Mc gear. I keep thinking I should pair more "expensive" speakers with Mc gear...but....when the sound is so pleasing; and with a lot of music, the Epos as they say just disappear, I soon forget such thoughts.

That said if I had a bigger space I'd probably audition a variety of Focal, Monitor Silver series, and perhaps a few others.

"Wilsons and Magicos do not sound the same.", that's an under statement, smile

I like Magico better in terms of speakers itself however if you going to keep the McIntosh gear I think it’s better synergy with WA.

Wilson seems to show with Mac, Dan's stuff or AR. It's not my cuppa, so I won't go there, but Dan's is best with Wilson because it controls the bass best, but lacks elsewhere. Won't matter as Wilson is known for dynamics.

Magico would be a better speaker with the Mac I would think, but again, you have to listen.

I use to own the WA Duettes and they sounded great with my Mc....not a fan of the higher end Wilson's look.... ie. Alexia,Sasha etc etc. For me...looks has a lot to do with my choice. If a speaker sounds nice but looks horrendous...it's off the list.

Have not heard the Magico's yet though....

Really depends on if the Mcintosh's are tube or SS. Makes all the difference in the world.

Why not take Mac gears to the dealer and decide which combination you like better?
