What was your best Audio Purchase of 2015?

the purchase of the CH Precision dac D1 and transport C1 was out of necessity after the Audiomeca transport broke and was beyond repair, I then sold the Audiomeca dac.
The CH Precision was a huge outlay, but what followed really brought out the benefits in the system - replacement of all the interconnects (Gryphon VIP Reference) and the powercords (Shunyata HC Sigma and Analogue Sigma and Gryphon VIP Reference).
That SQ improvement by replacing the cables was truly a revelation!

So it's the cables upgrades that really brought out the value of the source.

My best 2015 audio purchase was the design/build of a media room as the main part of the addition to our home. The sound improvement compared to the previous FR location is phenomenal.

Second would be my Raidho D3's that clearly have considerably more dynamic range and articulation than my previous C3's.

Thanks for sharing that. I enjoyed looking at every picture. A really thoughtful plan and nice job incorporating HT without cramping your 2 channel.

After some consideration, I'm going to go with visiting THE Show Newport Beach (Irvine). Nice, inexpensive hotel room on a very fun floor of exhibitors (e.g., Lampi and Salk across the hall).

My best audio purchase last year, actually the best in my life, was the Pass Labs Rushmore speakers. I looked for a set on A-gon for nearly 10 years, could never afford a new pair. There were less than 10 pairs sold in the USA. At nearly 600 lbs for the set, I would not trust shipping form overseas. I will probably keep them until I am deaf or dead, whichever comes first.

Aurender N10.

Honorable mention: Uptone Regen, which I sold when I got the N10.

My first post also. This looks like a great forum.

In 2015, I assembled my first serious system in 20 years, and it started with the ProAc Response D30R, a balanced and transparent speaker with midrange bliss to spare. I was nervous initially because there isn't much ProAc coverage in the US lately, but hearing was believing. Their sound inspired me to enter the world of tubes. Now every listening session lasts three times longer than intended.

So what if it's a better master? That means I've done my job. Do you want to know what EQ setting I used or what Attack/Release settings I used on my comp? Where does it end?
HDTracks has no facilities to upsample, downsample, convert or anything else. They are a distributor! They rely on us mastering engineers to do all their work. Six years ago we were dumbfounded on why labels would give us up sampled work and got blamed for it since we didn't "check" it. Who da' thunk they would put 24/44.1 PCM on SACD's. No one cared in the 90's when they bought all those SACD's that the files on them were up sampled.
HDTracks (and other DSP's) use 3rd party mastering houses to do all their work. If you don't like our work, don't buy it!
As far as backing things up, Grundman says every time you back up a file, it changes.
If you want to carry this further, I'd suggest you contact me off line.

Now, back to the OP...
My best purchases were the Magnepan 1.7i, Lampizator Balanced GG and Parasound Integrated.

I'm not a subscriber to Paul Grundman's theory about backup duplication and consecutive generational data loss. There is a big difference between ripping and file copying. There is certainly a risk of not getting a bit perfect CD rip but once you have your file it will copy bit perfect. Perhaps he was using Apple's Time Machine to copy/backup his files? bahahahaha!
