What was the last movie you watched?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - Every once in a while I like some pure fantasy. Same author and many references to Harry Potter, but it's own still the same. Eddy Redmayne plays the lead but may not have been the best choice. (he was much better in The Danish Girl) Effects were good and the story didn't get too whacked out by the end, but it was again just a little too long. Sounded great on the HT with all the effects.

Saturday night some friends wanted to see one we have seen many times, but still an awesome movie. Even better when you have read and understand Swedenborg's Heaven and Hell, which half of the movie is based on.

What Dreams May Come - This movie won awards for special effects way back in 1998 and the painting scenes are still up there with today's cgi. So the story is a little depressing at times, but the overall message is good. This is Robin Williams in one of his most serious roles with a host of other good supporting actors like Cuba Gooding Jr. Again, knowing a little Swedenborg will go a long way understanding the scenes in the second half of this film, but not required. It does need more than one watch by anyone to catch everything tho.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - I love the Harry Potter series so I love this as well. The effects are better than the original Harry Potter movies, as technology improved.

What Dreams May Come - I'm always fascinated by movies in which the protagonist die at the beginning of the movie. Its depiction of the afterlife is unique as well.

Hidden Figures. Loved it.

It is really well made, showing the progress in reducing racism and sexism while advancing rocket science in the NASA space programme. Having a computer science background, I also learned what the term "computer" originally meant through this movie.

I haven't seen it yet, but will once Netflix has it. Looking forward to learning the original meaning of computer. No spoilers, please. What my Computer Science degree accomplished was getting me to correctly spell 'Computor'. :)

This morning I watched Safe Haven with Marlene. Chick flick for sure but she enjoyed my company. Now she wants to it watch again in the morning. I stream it from Netflix, but tomorrow she'll be enjoying by herself. Once was enough for me.

Ghost in the Shell (2017) drops the original philosophical exploration of what separates a human from a machine from the 1995 anime masterpiece. Even without the depth, this is still an entertaining sci-fi action movie with great visuals, featuring yet another Hollywood imagination of Hong Kong.

Patriot's Day - This was a well done movie of all the events before, during, and after the Boston Marathon Bombing. Tastefully done as best as could be in light of the horrific events, injuries, and deaths. I do question some of the events in the movie as per the time when they caught the older brother and the younger one got away. I don't recall the news reporting all the extra bombs and the blowing up of 5 or 6 cop cars so I am assuming it was fluff for the movie, or it was blocked from the media. At 2:15 long, it keeps your attention all the way thru.

Fifty Shades Darker - This is the 2nd installment of the Fifty Shades Trilogy. I happened to like this one better than the first. We now have to wait til next February for Fifty Shades Freed. Dakota Johnson is a very pretty girl and keeps your interest in this film.

Fifty Shades Darker - This is the 2nd installment of the Fifty Shades Trilogy.

I think it might be a better movie if the subplots and the seemingly important supporting characters are given more time to develop.

De-Lovely - The Cole Porter story. Quite an interesting look back at his life, his music, and his lovers of both genders. Lots of good music and several other great performers like Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Dianna Krall, Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello, and Kevin Kline played Porter very well. He can sing!

USS Indianapolis - What a story, if new to you. The US Gov totally screwed this boat of sailors and court-martialed the Captain to save face. These are the heroes that took the bombs abroad that were used to bomb Japan and end the war. After being torpedoed and sunk, the survivors floated for days before the remaining alive were rescued. The sharks were about the worst of the ordeal besides the injuries, no food or water and very few life rafts. I guess I am not really shocked that these poor guys were left hanging.

The Big Sick. Funny, smart, well acted and written. Something to watch with your SO.

Yeah, wasn't that just wrong.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with my kids. 4k blu-ray looks and sounds unbelievable. The movie is pure crap though.

Funniest movie I have seen in a long time. No sex, no violence, no foul language, just laugh out loud funny

How to be a Latin Lover

Conner McGregor "Notorious". I am not a MMA fan, but it was a great movie to see someone work their ass off to rise in fame and fortune.

Baby Driver - This was one big surprise of a movie. The Soundtrack is one of the best I have heard in a movie for years. A young guy gets sucked into the mob as a driver for jobs. The driving is on par with the Fast and Furious flicks. Lots of action and shooting, but if you watch carefully, and listen, the Music flows with the Movie and this is both the first time I have heard Hocus Pocus by Focus let alone having shots from a gun fight timed perfectly with the music....then it morphs right into Radar Love. I may watch this again for the music.
