What Vinyl Do You Have On The Table?

Andrew Weatherall ‎– Masterpiece: Created By Andrew Weatherall - 2012 3LP Ministry Of Sound release - This truly is a masterpiece - the remixes are superb, pressing is perfect and the sound quality is insanely good.

Joy Division ‎– Closer - 2007 analog remaster from the original tapes - the best pressing I have ever heard from Rainbow.

Prince - Vault tracks II. from the SOTT box set - the more you play the vault stuff, the better and better it gets. amazing what great stuff the purple man discarded. the 6 min acoustic version of Forever In My Life is amazing.

The Smashing Pumpkins ‎– Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness - original 3LP 1996 pressing. One of my fav albums of all time is 25 years old, although the vinyl did not come out till April 1996 - doesn't really seem that long ago. This pressing was really hard to get (worth a small fortune now) and I found a copy of all places @ Groovy Records in Auckland. I really prefer the 3LP song order - just makes so much more sense.

Nostalgia! Everyone knows Kraftwerk the German computer music band. What not everyone appreciates, this album was released in 1974. A couple years after CCR hey days, Elvis was still in full swing, Van Halen had not started their career yet.

So, why to buy a computer music vinyl? Because at the time when this was released digital technologies were not available yet.

I’m also happy to translate the title track for you: We drive, drive, drive on the autobahn [emoji3].

In a time perspective this was really revolutionary.

Nightmares On Wax ‎– Carboot Soul - 2014 remaster done brilliantly by the late great John Dent @ Loud mastering studios.

Several copies of this album, this does nudge into top slot being 45 rpm and on clarity vinyl, number 950.

Arriving Monday.... Can't wait... The CDs are amazing and I have read that this version is other worldly... What a terrible lose... Eva was amazing... One of the finest live recordings ever.

45 RPM, 7 LPs.... (only 3000 pressings world wide)

randy, thanks for posting! have listened to the digital version twice now and every aspect of the recording process is as good as i have ever heard, particularly the mic'ing which is just spectacular.

if it were on 33 1/3 rpm i would get the LPs -- but at 45 rpm and 7 discs, that's a lot of work ;):)

On disk 5 now... WOW... The digital is great, but dammmmm... This 45 version is insane.

From the description it is the entire show, start to finish. Simply amazing in every way. Eva was great. Such a terrible loss.

I couldn’t help myself and pulled the trigger on the new UHQR Aqualung.

It is better than the Steve Wilson remix, a bit more toned down and being on 45 seems to give it a real sense of presence.

Peter Gabriels So. I recently picked this up for $180.00 as mint.

Classic Records Red Box on 45 rpm Clarity Vinyl, 4 albums, on one side only.

What a beautiful presentation, one of the best I have come across.

Recorded from tape using Studers, it simply sounds divine. It’ll be hard to find for what I paid but they are out there.

William Patrick Corgan ‎– Cotillions -2LP set - not sure how I missed this since it was released in Jan this year - anyway just got it now and it is superb!! big Corgan week with the new Pumpkins being released on Friday.

The Go-Betweens ‎– 16 Lovers Lane - the perfect dreamy indie pop album?

original UK Beggars 1988 release -maybe 60gms vinyl - can almost been used as a Rolf wobble board 😉 been played literally several hundred times or more - still sounds perfect and this pressing is the best you will hear this album - that is the longevity of vinyl if looked after.

The Smashing Pumpkins ‎– Adore - 2014 reissue. Easily the best reissue of all the Pumpkins albums Corgan did between 2011 and 2014. I understand what Corgan was trying to do with the MONO vinyl release back in 1998 with his Spector-ish wall of grunge sound but the wall is a bit too muddy - this version just works better imo especially with the slower songs, but luv both.
