Eagerly awaited new Anne Bisson LP.

On the positive side, the cover booklet is of very high quality and description of the recording setup incl. miking is very detailed. So that’s good.

Unfortunately the album altogether was a disappointment, the performance is quite average. Already on the opener Anne’s voice is breaking away, and for the whopping €90,- a pop they did not think a re-take would be necessary? Yeah well, live take and all - in the studio. Come on.

And while close miking was applied and partly good details come through, overall the resulting sound is not worth the effort. The bass is mushy for most part of the album. You really ask yourself why the effort to get up after every two songs to turn the record.

In a summary, if I want to read a good book I buy one from a good author. I am however not so much interested in what kind of pen he/she used or typewriter or whether it was written with Word or Pages and whether it was created lazying away in a hammock or while sweating in an attic den. I just want a good book. In a similar way, when I am interested in purchasing a good album my first interest is in the music and interpretation, other details are secondary. This album has gotten it backwards, not worth the money IMHO.
