R2R may be better but the choice of recordings available is a joke and their price is a joke too.

Now dats a Rig ...... BTW, a 15 point spread, analog out front , come on out you closet digitalites, you know you cant live without it ..

:)

I am digital 90% of the time. CD, SACD, Hi-res digital downloads get far more play time than vinyl. I do enjoy spinning LP's, though. I am old enough to remember the days when vinyl, reel to reel, and FM radio were the only sources. Loved all of it then and still do.

This question is too hard to answer with only one explanation. I've always said that I love having both digital and analog.

I own a lot of digital music, that I love, that is simply not available on vinyl.

But, if I'm going to listen to music for the sole reason of enjoyment, I'm going to be listening to vinyl.

Just equaled it for digital :) I do prefer the sound of analog sources but digital is just so convenient and good vinyl rips these days are proving to be a decent substitute for the real thing.

I take exception to the above statement. The choice of R2R recordings is growing practically every day. As soon as Acoustic Sounds comes on line with their tapes, it will blow open the doors to pop/rock recordings that people will want to own. As for the price of tape recordings being a joke, it's the reality of the medium. A 10 1/2" reel of blank tape on a metal reel is over $50 and you need 2 for one LP. There is $100 in material before you pay royalty rights and try and recover the cost of your duplication chain and pay someone to transfer the tapes. So yes, they are expensive, but it simply is the best sound you are going to ever hear in your own home assuming you have a good deck.

Are tapes expensive? Yes. Do I want to scream every time a digital couch potato bitches about paying $30 for a hi-rez download? Yes.

Digital Out front ..... Lampi to the world....

I'm a Lampi fan too. I reviewed the Lampi Level 4 DAC when most people hadn't caught on to Lampi yet. Lampi does DSD right.
