what Phono stage do you using?

Zesto Andros 1.2
sound great with the provided JJ tubes
rolled to genalex gold lion and very happy with them

Any recommendation for a 12AX7 upgrade?
I need 4, so up to 100$ each suggestions will be welcomed
Any thoughts about Sylvania?

Thanks

Gabriel

Reach out to George Counnas at Zesto. He’s really good about responding quickly and providing perspectives.

I've always liked NOS Telefunkens for 12AX7s, but taste in tubes is like taste in single-malt scotches, so YMMV. ;)

Sylvania's are generally very bold with good punch. (think rock music)
I always prefer a 5751 in place of a 12ax7. Slightly lower gain but a much quieter and more refined sounding tube.
As has been previously stated many flavors available and it's really a personal preference.

I agree on the 5751's if you phono stage will allow it but "Phono" grade 5751's are general a premium. I would call Andy at Vintage Tube Services and discuss it with him. The Matsushita tubes will get you a good taste of the Mullard warmer sound without the Mullard price. The black plate RCA's are also very good.

I've sold my Vitus Masterpiece (owner won't be picking it up until the new year). I'm looking at replacing it with the Kronos Phonostage, ARC REF3 or ARC REF10 Phono. My concern about the Kronos Phonostage is that it's designed only to be used with the Kronos. Although unlikely, what if I replaced it one day? Guess that's my concern.

Would love to hear from someone who has compared the ARC REF3 Phono vs the REF10 Phono.

Good luck with the ARC phono stage Mike. My buddy who has the same MBL speakers that you use is using an ARC. He has a MBL line stage, mono block MBL amplifiers also. He actually has the Reference 10 and seems to love it. I have heard it a couple times and it sounded marvelous, but it is really hard to say it was the phono stage making the difference when everything he has is in a completely different league than I use :).

Thanks Randy. This was an old post. I ended up with the VAC Statement Phono.

Ahhh... I saw the post where you said you were trying a Ref 3 :)... I guess I am behind on this thread a bit :P.

I should have the SimAudio at home tonight. Looking forward to trying it out with balanced connection cables (a buddy loaned me a very nice set of AudioQuest pure silver XLR cables for it).

So far the MOON Neo 310LP is fantastic. Very happy with the improvements I hear in my vinyl setup!

Anymore feedback on the Modwright PH9? I’m currently using my Mc C2300, but thinking of a separate phono stage?

Thanks

Zesto Andros Deluxe II. Just upgraded from the original Deluxe. The upgrade includes the replacement of the original transformer with a toroidal piece. The upgrade is really transforming in that the piece is more dynamic with better bass control and quieter while maintaining the musicality that the Zesto’s are known for.

B.M.C MCCI & AcousticPlan. both have 'current injection' or transimpedance inputs. The AcousticPlan also handles my London Decca and is switchable from LOMC to MM carts...and it has tubes.

New one on the way. Sold the Accuphase C37, and am very excited about the new one ....
