What is your favorite piece of gear?

For me, I'd have to say it was the Symposium Acoustics Rollerblock Jr's, and CRL Cabling Loom, as installing these into my system last where in fact the pieces that enhanced it, as well as pulled it all together.

In my mind some often overlook the importance of both isolation devices/platforms and cables, and view them as accessories, where I see/hear them as the final piece of the puzzle that either makes or breaks the system foundation as we know it.

Which CRLs?

Which CRLs?

So far, I own their Copper Series Phono-Cable and IC, as well as a Bronze Series IC and pair of Speaker Cables, with intent of getting the Copper LS Cables in the new year, at which point cabling wise, I'm done.

The Silver and Gold ranges are well above my mere mortal means, yet it's nice to see that Chip and Art have made the Gold Series earlier to manage as seen on page 9 of this guide:

And God knows, I caught your review on them earlier on, which was one of the reasons, I pursued them, but it was upon hearing their phono-cable borrowed from the Cable Company back in 2010, that won me over to how these cables are voiced.

I for one can't see going with another brand/line - period.

If my house was burning down and I had time to save one thing, I'd try to save my Shindo 604 field coil speakers.

Well unfortunately (?) I've never felt the way you guys do about any piece of audio equipment :( Maybe I'm not an audiophile after all...

It's got a real retro look to it. And I'm sure pictures don't do it justice! :) You also aren't really seeing the glow of those Mercury tubes either.

Reminds me of stuff used to see in the physics labs in our dept. I think it's a little like those who like the older ARC amplifier look.

I love it! It reminds me of my Electronluv preamp (sadly out of commission at present).

Pioneer Exclusive P3 - Direct-Drive Turntable.

Wow! I was thinking it was possibly a Pioneer just judging by the buttons, but I'm never that sure of myself. Beautiful table! I have a Pioneer PL-510A (in use) and a PL-530(in closet for now), both DD. Pioneer made some great tables back in the day.

I would have to say my old pair of Clearfield Continentals (very early von Schwiekert) Not the deepest bass but such a nice midrange.

But lately I have been enjoying my secondary (lower budget setup) and continue to be surprised how nice my old JM Lab Tantal 509s can sound when pushed to good levels.

My BAT VK-51se preamp and my cheap little Dayton Audio DTA-100a digital integrated amp that I bought on sale for $59. It is one of my fav's because of how good it sounds when paired with a good source. It performs way above its price point to the extent it is astonishingly good.

My Boulder 1010 Preamp. It's simple, elegant and has all the functionality I need like a unity gain (HT Bypass), a great phono input section. It's dead quiet, doesn't add any coloration (IMHO) and is built like a tank. I think this thing will be working like a champ in 50 years!

The only thing I don't like is the obligatory approx $400 "Boulder Link" cable if you want to connect it to other Boulder devices to get their status, etc. BTW, for those not in the know, this cable looks just like the cable that comes with JL Subs that connects the calibration mic to the unit -- not sure the wiring is the same, but the connectors are identical.
