What is the hot new DAC now?

I don't know Mike. I used to have the Lumin app as my favorite control point when I had my Linn. I think as a UPnP control point it was superior. However Roon is on a different level for user experience plus offers seamless integration of my 6700 albums on the NAS and the Tidal collection. I haven't had Lumin / MinimServer active since then.

I can imagine it works as the Bridge II is also UPnP.

Hans - my concern with Roon is that it requires a beefy computer to be running it somewhere, right? I wish someone made a Roon specialty box instead of having to introduce a computer into the system once again.

Roon is running without a single issue on the QNAP TVS-471 in my basement since January. No beefy computers needed!
Here is the description from Roon. My QNAP has 4 regular WD Red Pro discs in RAID 5. I run the Roon server on a 60 Dollar SSD that is connected with USB 3.0. Absolutely flawless!

Hans - can you use the Lumin app to control the Bridge II?

The short answer is no, because Bridge II is not an OpenHome renderer. In simple terms OpenHome is an advanced and improved successor to UPnP AV.

So many new ones, The new Metrum Onyx and the Jade and the Denafrips series of DACS which are all R2R and its $5800 Terminator. Lampi's new Pacific.

Its like a DAC is released each QTR,

I notice the Rossini is not mentioned in this tread. I'm keen to hear folks opinions and comparisons. I'm playing with one at the moment and enjoying it a lot. As a Roon end point it is awesome and will be even better with the MQA update coming.
