What is the best cover ever?

The great Byrds' covers of Dylan like "Mr Tambourine Man" and "My Back Pages".

Another great cover is Joni Mitchell's version of "Both Sides Now" used in Love Actually.

Hey wait! Joni can't cover herself can she?:) In any case, it's a beautiful version for sure.

In a way she did. It was originally released by Judy Collins about a year before Mitchell recorded it.

That is how I was introduced to Joni Mitchell. I noticed she had written two of the songs on Wildflowers so when I saw her album Song to a Seagull I immediately purchased it and became a huge fan.

Talking about the actual album cover, Reprise really messed up the Song to a Seagull cover. Like many of Joni's albums, she did the artwork for the cover. In the pattern of the seagulls on her painting are the words "Song to a Seagull." However, Reprise didn't see the pattern and cut off part of the title of the album!

Joni Mitchell's 'A Case of You' by Dianna Krall on Live in Paris. Haunting and demonstration quality sonics.

Diana Krall singing Bob Dylan's Simple Twist of Fate. Just her and the piano. Only found on the Tribute to Bob Dylan album.
James Taylor - You Got A Friend
Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow

I really like Joan Baez's cover of "Simple Twist of Fate" in her Diamonds and Rust album. She does a spot on parody of Dylan's voice in one of the verses.

I have two of those albums. Took me years to figure out the title because it is not written on the spline. One day I glanced at the cover from an angle and DOH! Epiphany!

You would not believe how many famous singers covered this song. I am not going to tell you who wrote it. I don't want to spoil the surprise. ;)

I know who wrote it, but I won't spoil the fun. The R&B group New Birth did a very soulful rendition with Supremes alum Susaye Greene doing lead vocals.
