Dan,

I find this CD to be one of the best redbook recordings I've heard. Great dynamics and an airiness to the high frequencies that is very rare in digital recordings, and great music to boot. Why can't more CDs sound like that??? Also find the "mumbles" (that's how they're credited) of the late Clark Terry on a couple of the tracks very enjoyable!

Bill.......I agree, GRP pays special attention to how recordings are mixed and mastered. You can also hear the difference on the vinyl pressings. Yes, Clark Terry's mumbles are unique.

Clifford Brown and Max Roach, "Study In Brown", 33.3rpm, EmArcy Custom High Fidelity. Superb audio quality, silent vinyl, great music. Forgot, this is a speakers corner reissue.

I agree. I started buying GRP way back when they were doing Joe Beck, Warren Bernhart, etc. and advertising 20-bit mastering. Today, I'm finding more and more jazz CDs are being done justice in the production process. For instance, that Gerry Mulligan Sextet a few posts up is absolutely stellar.
