Hi all,

New to the forum and thought I'd make an account to ask a quick question. My Grandpa is selling his Tannoy Arden speakers. He is not sure what to sell them for and told me to list them on the local online classifieds.

It says HPD type 385A on them. I would post pictures but I need 10 posts..

If you could give me a ballpark as to what to list these at, that would be greatly appreciated!

If pictures would help I can pm you a link to pictures of them

Tannoy Arden speakers sold new in 1978 - 1981 for $1,555 per pair. Their current used value is about $460 to $560 depending upon their condition. Hope this helps, and welcome to the Audio Shark!

Thanks for the info, that will definitely help. The case is not in the best of shape but they still sound amazing so the speakers are obviously still mint. I think I'll try for 1200 for the pair.

The values I quoted are from an established reference for used audio gear, but it appears from Paul's response that if you find the right buyer you can get much more!

Well that didn't take long, already found a buyer for 1200, feel like I priced them too low now.

Thanks guys. My grandpa is happy, thought he'd only get around 200.

I'm not too sure. Nothing as good as these were but still decent.

And yea I guess we do haha, medium rare?

First, welcome to Audioshark.org!

I don't want to shoot you down here, but if the case/cabinet "is not in the best shape, but they still sound amazing" they are definitely not mint and that will affect the selling price. To be "mint" they would have to look new/fresh out of the box, in addition to performing as new.

That being said, I have no idea what the speakers are worth and wish you good luck with your sale.
