and I was a tequila/mezcal nut for years (puroagave) then went the other way :) IMO the Angel Envy is the furthest thing from 'spice' my tasting notes were dry fruit and roasted sweet corn. AE is finished in port wine barrels which mellows out the spirit. EH Taylor and Buffalo Trace are distilled in same house as Pappy Van Winkle and Eagle Rare. They're more alike than different, I rank them in the top class of 'straight bourbon' regardless of price, reputation, etc. The Michter's is interesting because its aged in used bourbon barrels and as such cannot be called 'straight bourbon.' The Woodford double oak is fine enjoyed neat, but IMO is best in Old Fashioneds which balances out the heavy oak notes.
Yes I knew EH Taylor Buffalo Trace Pappy and Eagle Rare were the same distillery. I was lucky enough to win 2 lotteries for Eagle Rare 17 year old 2012. Best bourbon I have ever had. Michter's I have never had don't why but since you mention it I will get out and try it maybe retry some others. It's been awhile you get used to what you like.
Thanks for your take.

Rob you should try Zalto glasses , they are way better than Riedel :)
I agree. But you'll have to admit, Riedel's are a much better glass to use when entertaining your more heavy handed friends and relatives... And then for some others, it's red Solo cups only.

You guys have much classier tastes than me. Most of my limitations are the result of the horrible heartburn from anything other than “white” liquors such as some tequila and all vodka and why my favorite of all drinks these days is Deep Eddy’s Vodka. I was turned onto it by a liquor store in Montana years ago as an alternative to Tito’s and I stuck. Truly my favorite.

the King likes Riedel, im the clueless one that uses Glencarin glasses to sip whiskey.

U really are clueless....

Your jealously and arrogance responding to my bourbon tasting is uncalled for and shows how stupid u are. U had to say something so u attack my glasses?? (For the record they are not Riedel.)

So take your one Glencarin glass and pour yourself a glass of STFU....oops I meant Jim Beam

Lets see how you work around this, DA.

Never see the 8yr around

The 16 is one of my go to whiskeys

I really wanted the 16 because that was what I sampled at the Whiskey Bar, but I could only get the 8 at my store. Did not like it as much as the 16. My wife says it tastes like wet band aids.

Very special local small batches. I can just breath this butterscotch aroma all day. This is the Chestnut, I am going back to day to get the just released Hickory. The owner does old house and barn reclamation and uses the wood for his barrels, hence the name of this, Reclamation.
