Wells Audio

Hi Wisnon,

All of the Wells Audio amplifiers sound great with every speaker that we have experienced them with. The sound of the product is one of a very quiet backround with sound that is very full, rich dynamic, open, sweet and harmonically complete. Bass is deep with a weight to it that is very uncommon. This bass energy imbues even midrange and treble notes with a body counter to the usual solid state signature. Tonality of the sound is exceedingly tube like as has been described numerous times in reviews. Transients are very natural with a balance between rolled off and hifi type crispness. The sound of these amplifiers do not have any colorations strong enough to sound offensive or unbalanced with any speakers in our experience. The Innamorata and Akasha have been paired with Harbeths in shows and in home based systems to most beautiful result. Owners of Harbeths have been especially impressed by the bass with the Harbeths as many Harbeth owners are always looking for better bass response but it is the beauty and naturalness of the sound that seals the deal. The ultimate description of the sound of the amplifiers is of the "convergence" amp. One that has the best qualities of a tube and the best qualities of a solid state amplifier. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions please let me know.-Jeff

CPP- They are really great with but not limited to Usher speakers. I actually own Ushers among some others and they really sing with any of the amps in the lineup.-Jeff

Hello Hiker,

Really every product for sale in high end audio today is a winner. Very good products well designed. This is the end product of decades of competition. With the experience of manufacturing high end audio products and all that comes with it I would never critisize another's products. Just the act designing, executing manufacturing and eventually successfully selling a product in this very competitive market deserves immense respect. But having said this there must always be a worst, average and best product among the competitors. It is nice to receive validation that others have heard your product and believe it to be among the best available on the market today. Interest that you would mention McIntosh as many that have heard the Wells Audio amplifiers descibe them as sounding like McIntosh products but with quieter noisefloor, better dynamics and cleaner sound.-Jeff

Jeff, if that is true, it would be quite an accomplishment.

Jeff I've read great things about Innamorata paired with TAD speakers at audio shows and always wanted to demo one but as life goes no dealers in Pittsburgh,PA carry the brand. But my question always is how big was the room and at what volume level were the TAD's playing at these shows? What I've found owning the Reference ones is they sound good at low and moderate level but when you bring the juice/current these speakers take on a whole new life. Is the Inamorata consider a high current amp? Does it run out of steam at higher levels with the TAD's? Thanks for your response in advance.

John

Hi John,

The Wells Audio amps are considered a high current amplifiers. They have proven to be a magical pairing with TAD speakers of all kinds. At past shows we have been paired with all models of TAD and have won sound of show from a number of reviewers in each instance. The TADs have been played at levels from a whisper to realistic rock concert levels at these shows and the results are never short of thrilling. Wells Audio amplifiers are driving speakers around the world that are much tougher to drive than the TADs. The many reviews of our amplifiers have echoed these same sentiments. I hope this helps KJohn. If you need more info don't hesitate to let me know.-Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the response. I think this amp will be my next venture to try. Is there a dealer directory of folks in the USA selling your amps?

John
