Well yesterday was a long, sad day.

One of our kitties named Harpo had to be put down. He had been acting a bit off the past couple of weeks, and for about the past 4 days hasn't been eating or drinking much of anything, and his breathing had become very labored.

We took him to the vet a couple days ago and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. We were give some meds to give him and it wasn't helping. In fact, he was fighting us the entire time, so we ended up taking him right back the following night. They ran more tests yesterday morning and found a cancerous tumor in his chest that was filling his lungs with blood and fluid, which was also causing his pancreatitis. He was deteriorating rapidly and his breathing was getting worse.

Unfortunately, there wasn't anything that could be done at this point because the cancer was already too far along and was affecting pretty much all of his organs including horrible acids that were draining into his stomach which was making him not want to eat and drink.

So we had no choice but to make the tough decision. We cried and said our goodbyes, and... You know the rest... Hell, I'm tearing up again just writing this...

So sorry to hear of your loss. It’s always tough losing a pet.

So sorry for the loss of your cat. And no, it never gets easier to lose our pets at the end. We all know what the deal is when we get a kitten or a puppy, but it sure never helps when the time comes. My boxer Maggie has cancer in her sinus cavity and has been undergoing radiation treatments since the beginning of January. Her treatments end this Wednesday and we hope we bought her another 18 months of good quality of life. Again, my condolences for the loss of Harpo.

So sorry to read this Charles. My condolences.

Mark, hopefully Maggie will be pain and cancer free.

Nick, I am sorry to see that about your terrier. 19 years is a great run.

All these pets give unconditional love to us. It's terribly sad seeing them go.

My condolences. :(

My shiba is only 2 years old and I wish he could live with us forever.

Our pets are so near and dear to our lives. Charles, condolences to you and your family.

Sorry about your loss. Never easy to see a pet friend and family member leave. Just think about the joy Harpo brought you and the family.

I am a little late to post. Sorry for your loss. It is always a difficult time when you lose a pet.

We had to put to rest our beautiful Giant Schnauzer Zeus of 11 years 8 months 2 weeks ago and we are still at a loss and grieving. My wife cries daily. He was like the 3rd child we never had. He was a great friend, guardian and protector of the family. Unfortunately, osteosarcoma (a type of aggressive bone cancer) took his life. He was my shadow and I find myself still missing our daily routine of walks, belly rubs and butt scratches.
