This is a good article about Japanese “Kissas”, quiet pub-type establishments where the focus is listening to music - on vinyl. The linked article is on Apple News, and was originally on National Geographic, which is unfortunately behind a paywall. Hopefully, some resourceful individual can offer a more accessible link to it.

Yea, all just great until a fight breaks out fighting for the sweet spot.
You may be right. It’s entirely possible that insufficient civility remains in this culture for something like that to work. Ah, well… it was a nice thought.

The build on Japan is this. You have all seen Japanese people wearing masks?

They are wearing them to keep from infecting others - protecting others.

In the rest of the world, people wear masks to keep from being infected - protecting themselves.

I used to live in a college town and there was a popular bar, the owner didn't have a jukebox he has a stereo set up. He had the gear behind the bar so he could play what he wanted or requested. Sometimes it was just the college radio station. This was like the late 80's.
