How long does it take for your gear to warm up and start sounding its best?

I find 30 minutes for me.
 
Mike, a good topic.

When I had the Bryston, I found 30-60 minutes helped get the amp sounding pretty good. But I found a further improvement with a full day of being left on. I usually would turn the amp on before leaving for work on Friday and leave it on all weekend. During time off, when I would be able to have longer listening sessions for days in a row, I also left the unit on. I know James recommends this, too.

My system sounds good at startup, but after about 60 minutes it sounds great. The hotter my amp gets the better it sounds.
 
Foreplay.....I mean.....warm up....varies.... depending on my mood. :olga:
 
My active speakers are always on standby but after about 30 mins then all hell breaks loose!!!!
 
My Dartzeel is good in 5-10 minutes. My Dagostino and Job take a good 30-40 minutes.
 
As long as it takes me to mix/make a Gin&Tonic :D and then its ready:scholar:
 
I accidentally discovered my Cambridge-Audio 840W amps sounded better after being on 24 hours. So, I started leaving them on Thursday night in order for them go be ready Friday night, which is prime music time for me. After I replaced them with Pass Labs X600.5 amps I followed the same procedure, at least until I got my first electric bill with the Pass amps. It was over $250.00 more just in electricity, so now I turn them off at night. However, on Friday I turn them on in the morning, so they are mostly ready by Friday night.

As a side-note, I had solar installed last weekend to offset these amps.

I also turn my HT gear on Thursday night, and leave it on over the weekend. The picture is sharper, clearer, with more vivid colors after being on 24 hours. I have a Sunfire TGA-5400 amp so it wastes little power while idle.

Wow! I'm learning so much. I would never have guessed that with the TV. Amazing.

As for the power bill? Ouch! I hate those surprises.

I must look into solar too. I live in Florida!

Probably depends on the TV. I am using a 57" Hitachi RPTV digital monitor. After calibration it looks stunning. When I leave it on, but not in use, I switch to an unused input to decrease wear on the tubes.

I discovered that it looks better after 24 hours when I left it on one Friday night, and watched Avatar again Saturday night. It was like watching a new movie with everything being so more vivid than usual.
